Can't get SNES Roms to work properly
-
I'm fairly new to Rasberry Pie, but I got it as a gift for Christmas and after some research decided to install RetroPie.
Early on, everything was fine. But recently I've been experiencing issues with SNES roms, but can't seem to identify the issue.
I even did a clean reformat of the SD card, and I'm still experiencing the same issues. Here's what is happening:
- Clean version of RetroPie with everything update
- Using Xbox 360 Controller (Via dongle) & Nintendo Wii U Pro Controller (Via bluetooth)
- SNES, NES, GBA, & Sega Genesis Roms installed.
- NES, GBA, & Genesis roms work perfectly, and do not crash minus random occurrences.
- Connected to WiFi connection.
Currently, I will load a SNES rom, the game may load... but will randomly crash back to the SNES rom selection screen. Sometimes the game won't load at all and just go back to the selection screen. Each time, i'll see a little grey box(similar to the box that shows on startup to choose emulator), but it disappears and I can't see anything that it says.
This happens with either controller, with or without wifi, with or without a keyboard plugged in.
Pi Model or other hardware: 3
Power Supply used: Standard
RetroPie Version Used : 4.1
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: Keyboard
Controller used: Wii U & Xbox 360
Error messages received: N/A
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): Looked here, but couldn't make any sense of it or a clear indication of an error.
Emulator: Standard SNES10For the life of me, I cannot figure this out. Any suggestions?

@jimmyleggs what's a "standard" power supply? traditionally they are measured in volts and amps.

Its worth doing a resetromdirs after copying games accross just in case permissions are screwed up. Also might be worth telling us what file extentions the games have too like .zip. smc etc etc
Go into Retropie on main screen then retropie-setup then configuration / tools then scroll down to resetromdirs, restart after its finished and try again.

I have this power supply from Amazon: CanaKit 5V 2.5A Raspberry Pi 3 Power Supply / Adapter / Charger (UL Listed)

I attempted the resetromdirs, and still no luck. Currently, all my SNES files are .sfc

Emulator: Standard SNES10
Is this one of these?

@rbaker I assume so... I haven't installed any other emulators. This is the base install of retropie. When I boot a game, I can choose between 3 emulators. It defaults to lrsnes9x_2010 or something. I tried the two others with the same outcome, but they just seem to be older versions of the same emulator (read as 10,5,3)

So, oddly enough, it seems to be working now... I only made one change though. I changed the resolution on the emulator to 27mhz 720xwhatever instead of the default 640x480 at 25mhz
and now... no more crashing. I've tested it on several roms. Does this make any sense to anyone?

Dont forget you can run snes zipped to safe some space (depending how many you have of course)
