Lr-gpsp saving error "The 1M sub-circuit board is not installed"

I am playing a rom hack for Pokemon Fire Red and getting the message "The 1M sub-circuit board is not installed" whenever I try to save. The creator said this is a solution: "Go to "options" ; "emulator" ; "save type" and choose Automatic and Flash 128K" But they didn't specify what emulator it was for and I can't seem to find any specific emulator options in RetroPie.
