We don't support preloaded/3rd party images. Install RetroPie from the image provided at https://retropie.org.uk/download and see if you still have this issue.

@robin76 How about starting with https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first ? Please give the answers for the questions on that page, especially the RP version and what emulator are you using to run the ROM.
Files in the ROM folders should never be owned by root, how did you transfer your ROMs ?

@MattyL42 You prob don't need to replace anything like dank said, this was from a couple years ago but it did fix my problem. Just send the info of your setup so someone can help you further.

Here was the old thread for reference.

Although I like to "earn my spurs" sometimes, I think that anyone should play their games like they want. For the vast majority of people, games are for having fun, after all.

So, if someone wants to play all unlockable content from the start, I'll gladly let them. RetroArch officially supports cheats, after all.

Another situation in which unlocked saves and cheats are very handy are gaming parties where people just want to have fun. Even hardcore gamers do that from time to time.

@spudsmctoole And for your autostate thing, I've faced exact the same effect that the option was activated! .... I've written a small script that will alter your retroarch.cfg as you want.

You can find it here: Dirty Little RetroArch.cfg writer

You can call the script to disable autostate_save feature like this

      $HOME/RetroPie/scripts/SetRetroArchCfg.sh "$1" "savestate_auto_save" "true" "false"

@sainerd You might have chosen the wrong forum to ask this question - this forum is for RetroPie related topics; this particular topic is about emulation of a memory card by a Playstation 1 emulator and transferring save data from a PS1 memory card to a file to be used by the emulator.

@barbudreadmon I did yes. Back then I only updated lr-fbalpha 2012 which didn't improve things.

@Shootersf I have only tried PiFBA briefly. I use lr-fbalpha as I use a Pi3. Does PiFBA have a config file that can be edited and saved? It may well stick if you go that route.

      @VTHokiEE
I think it depends on which emulator made those save files. Like if you did a save state with lr-vba-next and try to load it with lr-gpsp, it will not work but go back to lr-vba-next and it can read them again.

      synack

@noon That would probably require ES to be modified to either catch a SIGTERM signal and perform its normal shutdown procedures, or could have it check for the existence of a trigger file to shut down. Either of which are not very difficult to implement.

Perhaps you can post this suggestion in the Ideas and Development section of the forum.

@Rad_Schuhart said in Im really desperate trying to save changes at retroarch.:

Im triying to customize controls in the diferent emulators, and I got it pressing Select + X while in the game.

If this is the only thing you wanna do, the best and simplest way to do it is through Core Input Remapping. And it doesn't need the config_save_on_exit enabled to work.

      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/RetroArch-Configuration#core-input-remapping

The problem is that if you already enabled config_save_on_exit, probably your configs are messed. If you don't know how to recover the retroarch.cfg.rp-dist files, I suggest a fresh install and then using Core Input Remapping.

And, of course, searching the answers on the wiki always helps...

Jesus Christ, it seems that I got it!. Thanks for your help!

And yeah, trust me when I say that I've read the wiki, I've read a lot of forums and spent hours watching videotutorials in youtube. I was really desperate.
