    I'm having problems connecting my wireless PS3 controller to Bluetooth using a PI 3, and I'm having problems with my sd card, it will not let me format it to FAT32. I'm using the latest version of retropie, what am I doing wrong?

      @r641wd Hi and welcome.

      As it may be expected, you'd probably do well in reading this post first and then sharing as much information as possible.

      In regards to the card, in particular, where are you trying to format it in, what do you mean you're "using the latest version of Retropie" (if you are, why do you want to format it? The card should have 2 partitions - a small FAT one, and an EXT4 one which you will not be able to read on normal Windows/Mac computers), and in regards to the PS3 controller, have you followed these steps?

      Best.

          @pjft I'm using retropie 4.2 and yes I've followed the directions, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. And I watched a tutorial on how to install roms to retropie using a flash drive. It says that it needs to be formatted to FAT32, not sure why but that's what it says.

            For the roms, try doing it over network. It's in the docs as well.

              your flash drive needs to be formatted to fat32, not the sd card. if your having problems, what are they? any error message?

                I've actually never tried the USB stick transfer. I will either use the SFTP Option or the Browse Over My Network Option.

                Most USB sticks (flash drives) are already formatted to FAT32 or exFAT (which is the same as FAT32 but optimized for flash memory)
                https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_flash_drive#File_system

                What size USB stick (flash drive) are you using? And what operating system are you using (Windows, Mac, Linux)?

                    @backstander I'm using a 16gb flash drive. And I don't get any error messages, it just says that I only have 57mb free when there's nothing on it

                        You know, I had one of my SanDisk flash drives at work do something like that. I tried every trick in the book to reformat it and nothing seemed to work. I contacted SanDisk and I had to RMA (return merchandise authorization) it back to SanDisk and they send me a replacement. Took about 3 or 4 weeks before I received the replacement.

                          Is that space related to the flash drive or the SD card? For the SD card, you may need to expand the file system after installing RetroPie.

                                    @r641wd I don't have enough information from your description to suggest next steps.

                                    Searching for the error you described on Google seems to take me to this page. See if those steps help?
