Dragon's Lair from Daphne Download, what to do when no lair.zip file

I know there has been a lot posted about Dragon's Lair and Daphne. However, I have had a tough time sorting through the files to find what I need. So here goes:
I purchased a used copy of Dragon's Lair on ebay and when through the daphne download process. That all worked fine and now it's working on my Laptop! Just great!
Problem is, I want it on my Raspi3 Retropie. The emulator is installed from the experimental packages.
My issue is that once Daphne downloaded on my laptop, a .zip file was not created. I Zipped a few files and placed them in the daphne folder but that didn't seem to work. Am I missing something here?
Are there any of you out there that used the Daphne download and verify program that then moved this over to retropie that have any instructions on how to do this?

@jimd0586 The only .zip file you need to have/move to your Pi would be the rom file.

Thanks Fin. I'll give it a looksee after work.
However, I don't believe the daphne software created a rom file. After the CD was put in and I hit start, it just made the sound files and video and a few others. I don't recall ever seeing a .zip.

Check here. You should be able to get it up and running. It also has a great way to link ROMs so you can use the same tileset for different versions to save a ton of space.

As outlined in the thread you'll find your .zip ROM files in c:/games/Daphne/roms if you used the default install directroy.

That's not possible you have to hav a rom to run the emulator even on your PC. Unless your just running the dvd?
You have the downloader correct? If you do what directory did you install it to? Where ever you installed it is where the roms and all the files you need will be. -

You can grab them directly from Dragon Lair's Project too or for whatever Laserdisc game you need but as Fin said you should have them on your PC but either works fine.

Ok, I'll try and do a hard drive search. Would the file be a .zip? I found the files, the are movie and sound files, etc. But no .zip files. I just zipped them all myself and transferred that to my pi, but it didn't work.

@jimd0586 You don't want any of the files zipped only the rom needs to be in .zip format.
When you installed the downloader where did you install it too? No need to do a HD search just find the install directory.

Just to verify, you do have Daphne fulling working on your PC and you can run Dragon's Lair?

@Riverstorm yes sir. Got it on eBay and ran the installer with the cd in the drive. My MacBook doesn't have a cd drive so i did it on my PC laptop. Put the files on a thumb drive and got them on my Mac. Transferred them to Retropie from there. My PC is old and slow so I use it sparingly.

Ok so that does not sound like you have the downloader installed. You need that to torrent all the files you need to install on the Pi, only thing you need the disc for is to varify you have a real copy before it will grab you the proper files.
Read the link I gave to the other thread.Also CLICK THIS LNK and get the downloader and install it , get the files you need and install them on your Pi.

Sometimes I need stuff really simplified. I'm just lucky you are all patient.
Although that is what I downloaded... I need to get my laptop on here this evening and verify what I did. I know it downloaded. I'm confused.
Someone just needs to make a darn youtube video from Daphne verify all the way to placing into retropie. AHHHH!!!! lol

That might happen yet it's still considered an experimental emulator at this point. The only thing I couldn't get going was pause via joystick but you can install screenshots, full descriptions, etc. Even in the experimental stage it does run quite well.
Here's most of the steps from that link posted earlier but there's a lot more info and it's worth reading. I had all kinds of issues getting it running and Fin was key in getting Daphne off the ground for me! ;)
Here's the steps if it might help anyone else. Also thanks Caver on the steps to link alternate game ROM versions with the same slate files. That was really handy.
- Download and install Daphne Loader
- Start Daphne and click "Start" on your preferred game (downloads games via torrent files)
- After it downloads the game it will give you a list of qualifying DVD's to authenticate the game
- Insert correct DVD and click "Ok" to authenticate
- After it completes click "Ok' to start the game and parse the files
- Exit the game and Daphne Loader
- Browse to the install folder and look for the subdirectory named "vldp_dl"
- Under "vldp_dl" look for the game you just installed (i.e. Dragon's Lair=lair; Space Ace=ace; etc.)
You want to copy all the files except the *.bf, *.md5, *.dat files to your Pi using SCP or another program.
The directory structure is defined in the official Wiki here:

In step 2 it can take a while depending on your internet connection to download the *.bf files. It seems the *.bf files are some type of encrypted file. It's basically all the *.m2v & *.ogg files encrypted.
In step 4 it can take a while also. It uses the DVD to authenticate all the files but I do not think the downloaded version with the Daphne Loader is the same as the DVD used to authenticate the files. This step uses some decryption key to decrypt the *.bf files to usable *.m2v & *.ogg files after it verifies the DVD. You end up using twice the space as once it completes you have two sets of files the downloaded *.bf files and the decrypted usable files.

It is strongly recommended to use the DVD-Video version on the Dragon's Lair 20th Anniversary Box set (3 DVD set). These versions are sometimes marked as PS2/Xbox compatible. All references to 20th Anniversary Edition in this wiki refer to the DVD-Video version.

DAPHNE only supports the DVD-VIDEO 20th Anniversary edition, which works on a DVD player. The PC DVD-ROM does not work on a DVD player, but instead requires a PC. Really it's not that hard just follow the steps Riverstorm outlines and look at the other thread it shows pictures of the directories and what the structure and file types they need.
Trust me if I can get this working anyone can, I know less than Zero about Linux etc. I make movie props and costumes for a living, autobody before that so about as far from tech as you can get. ;) lolAnd just to confuse further. lol Here is a guide I did for using Daphne with Attract Mode frontend if you have any desire to move in that direction.
