How to get Intellivision to work on 4.1
-
It doesn't look like I needed a config file for 'Space Armada'. Can you post it's contents?
-
@mediamogul Feck the Intellivision. ColecoVision is where it's at. Better games, better graphics. Check it out.
-
@mediamogul What contents do you mean? I can't simply send a link where I got the game cause that be breaking the forum rules. What games can I download that will work using the bios files that I got from the 2nd video?
@AlexMurphy Appreciate your enthusiasm on the other side of the fence
-
@ThatGuy-UNo What fence? ColecoVision is better!!!! We can have both. That's why I love emulators. I'm only trying to have a joke.
-
What contents do you mean?
I was referring to the contents of the config file.

Try something basic like 'Burger Time!' and see if it loads. It shouldn't need a memory map. If it doesn't work, we'll compare the checksum of our BIOS files.
pft... Everyone knows all the best titles came out of GameaVision.
-
@mediamogul Nonsense! All the best games were on the
FUNARAMA-VIDEO-FUN-SUPER-MACHINE
I had them all. And I beat all 756 of the games released. Even the really shitty ones involving Smurfs! -
@AlexMurphy Lol sorry :P just being frustrated with the emulator atm :/
-
@ThatGuy-UNo You own a Pi. Frustration is a thing. I remember when I was about to stamp on it like a horrible cockroach. I was where you were once. Don't lose hope!
-
@mediamogul The contents of the config file where the google doc ones from the wiki
-
I'm re-familiarizing myself with the mappers and if memory serves, mapper 0 loads by default unless otherwise instructed and therefore any game using it doesn't need a config file. That leaves only 30 to be made from a North American set.
-
You can get the md5 checksum of the BIOS files from the command line by typing:
md5sum /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/exec.bin
and
md5sum /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/grom.bin
The result of mine are:
62e761035cb657903761800f4437b8af /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/exec.bin
0cd5946c6473e42e8e4c2137785e427f /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/grom.bin -
@mediamogul Thank you I will give it a try, thank you for sticking it with me.
-
Ok I am officially done trying, if anyone want to help me ill leave my email in my profile if you are willing to help me through and through. I have tried getting it to work on 4.1. Here is what I did.
[Removed by admin]
Burger Time and renamed it as the spreadsheet on the wiki. no config file this time.
thanks for all for the help. -
@ThatGuy-UNo posting links to google searches is no different than posting links to roms or saying which video you got it from etc. It's against the forum rules. Next infraction will result in a ban.
-
@herb_fargus My bad, sorry about that, now I know where the line is drawn :)
-
@ThatGuy-UNo as far as intellivision goes i can help walk you through everything. I couldnt find an email in your profile though.
-
If you two decide to continue working through email, please consider posting the resolution here afterward for anyone who might have a similar issue later. Quite honestly, I've never seen jzintv be this stubborn and I'd be curious to hear the outcome myself.
-
@mediamogul i will post. In this case i prefer to do it over email just because it can get really extensive going through intellivision stuff and im going to go through setting up the controller and everything with him. But i will post results. The biggest problem with intellivision though usually is permissions with the bios files. I should do a wiki writeup some time so people can get the best experience out of the intellivision. Also there are so many awesome free homebrews too that people who dont trifle atariage.com's intellivision section of their forum that people are missing out on. There are about 10-20 new games released on cart for the intellivision every year. Most of the intellivision homebrew games roms become available for free or on the cheap. Flappy bird rom was just released for the colecovision and intellivision on there recently.

You should indeed. With George Plimpton gone, we need more people singing the praises of and possibilities of Intellivision.
-
@mediamogul reading the name george plimpton made me think of a song. You need to check out the song "my parents bought me intellivision"
