RetroPie issues I am currently having.

@DarkWolf @dankcushions I wouldn't mind slide so much if it weren't for the awful (to my liking) zooming effect when launching games.
But is this zoomed logo thing only noticeable in fade, though?
-
@pjft The fade effect only appears with the slide setting...
Fade only has fading, no zooming -
-
@DarkWolf I'm not sure that's correct, unless we're referring to the same thing by different names.
"Fade" will fade in and out when we transition between system -> gameList, and from gameList to game.
"Slide" will have the fancy sliding different elements when moving between systems on the systemView, but when launching a game it will zoom in on center, fade out, launch game, and come back.@BuZz -> Thanks for filing it. Subscribed.
-
@pjft I know that... I guess you wrote that down better than me
-
@DarkWolf Sorry - just wanted to make sure we were saying the same thing or if I was missing something (which wouldn't surprise me at all! ) :)
-
@pjft i believe that prior to video preview support, the zoom effect on the slide transition actually zoomed in on the "md_image". This was actually pretty cool in my opinion. Once video support was added the zoom started to zoom to the center of the screen. To test this, simply set up a system with only "md_image" are and no video. As long as no videos are present in that entire gamelist, you should zoom into the image. This is the case on my builds since i started, i assume that you will experience the same thing? Let me know.
Edit: i guess I am talking about just a detailed view, the zoom should zoom on the image in a detailed view, it does not work properly on a video view.
-
@TMNTturtlguy I already noticed that and it is kinda sad. It would be much better if it zooms in to the video as there would be a picture
-
@DarkWolf AGREED!

The weird thing is that the original creator of Carbon (Rookervik) hasn't fixed the logo size. It kind of bugs me because I'm used to it being normal. I think the fix for the PSX controller should be either updating RetroArch, or trying to press a button while loading the game.
-
I think there's a little dust on the top of the tv box ;)
-
@nasp2000 said in RetroPie themes zooming in logos?:
I think there's a little dust on the top of the tv box ;)
What do you exactly mean, the Raspberry Pi, or the TV box? Look, my PS3 controller runs through Bluetooth, and sometimes when I restart, RetroPie goes to the previous state. This also happens when you disconnect the Pi while it's on. And that's happened a few times where the Select+Start buttons would refuse to work and desperate measures call for desperate times. Do I need to re-install the image?
-
@TMNTturtlguy so did it break for the detailed view, or are you saying that it is not implemented correctly for the video view?
-
Ok, so I've figured out what is going on. So, the problem is that some PSX roms (the ones that are affected are Crash Bandicoot 1, PaRappa the Rapper) but games like Crash Team Racing and Net Yaroze Collection do seem to work with the controller. The files are definitely in there correctly, Bin and Cue files, and a few PBP files, but these files seem to be the only ones affected. Do I need to re-install these ROMs, because that'd be annoying.
EDIT: I'm gonna update my PSX emulator as while taking it out may have fiddled with the settings and ruined controller settings. It does work for specific ROMS, which is kind of weird, and might not be with the emulator, but I'm gonna go check if RetroArch is messing up some controllers. I love RetroPie, but there are loads of problems with the system, which I hope are ironed out in the next updates.

@pjft On my current setup which is running your ES Build, if i have a system without videos, like PSP and i am in slide, I zoom into the game image. If i am in NES where i have video i zoom into the middle. I believe this is also the case on the main ES. I will have to check later, I can't get on my pi right now though. To answer your question, i think the video view does not work correctly.
-
@TMNTturtlguy it will be, then, as there's no changes there.
I suspect it'll be hard to zoom in on the video, at least the OMX player one. I'll see, though. One more thing for the backlog, but no promises.
Edit: fixed typos over the phone.

Just so you can better understand what issues I have, i've recorded a YouTube video of the PSX issue I am having. If anyone has a good fix for it, please reply.

@Global-Moderators Please feel free to edit this message if necessary.
There are 2 reasons I see for this behaviour :
- you're dealing with a game that only support an analog pad (or doesn't support it). You can change the type of pad in retroarch options.
- the game is protected by an anti-piracy system
-
@pjft I just verified with the main branch ES V2.1.8RP that this is indeed the case with the slide transition. If you set your transition to slide and go to the retropie menu this should act the same as a system without videos. When you enter into a menu, you should zoom into the logo. When you go to a system with video, you zoom to the middle. The only exception is with my arcade system. This actually will zoom in on the video. I also tested this with carbon with video support as updated from the retropie script. Same exact results, even on the arcade system.
I also have an old version of Carbon backed up on my machine before video was implemented. When i use this theme that does not have video all systems properly zoom into the image. Thus, there is something wrong with the code for video view support. The only question is why does this behave properly on the arcade system only?
Let me know if you want any other testing done on this. This is a low priority fix, at least for me, but it is a bug in the system.
-
@TMNTturtlguy thanks for testing. Would you be able to add it here, so that everyone can be aware of that? I'm not sure I'll be able to look into that shortly, and it might be a simple enough fix for someone to take on.
Thanks!
