RetroPie issues I am currently having.
-
These issues have been happening a lot while I have used RetroPie. If you have any fixes of this, please do post.
This happened when I updated RetroPie to 4.2.3 and the temperature sign kept showing up while updating. This may be because my console doesn't have heat sinks and holes for the hot air to go through. I tried updating the themes but to no avail. This Pi seems to be a bit defective, in that sometimes PSX games don't work with my PS3 official controller, and Bluetooth not working. Is there a current fix for this?

Should definitely have both of that, hard times for the pi

There are a lot of "ps3 controller problem" threads on this forum, so you should search a bit and hopefully find a answer, otherwise come back here

OK, I may have not explained this, but the issues with PSX not working and Bluetooth have taken place once I updated to 4.2.2. The problems still exist on 4.2.3 and I don't know what exactly happened. I left it on while updating to 4.2.2, and it may have overheated some settings and caused something to change.

@Allanbuzzy Not sure what your problem is from your post. The logos zooming in is an issue ?
-
@Allanbuzzy I doubt that any such problems would have been related to overheating, at least the logos one :)
I thought I had noticed a change in the zooming of the logos in ES, now that you mentioned. Initially I thought it was just something that had always been there, but I hadn't really noticed. If you're also mentioning it, it means something changed, which is quite likely given the amount of work Zigurana and jdrassa have been doing on themes, namely with Caroussel support and such.
It's likely related to that - nothing broken, just a change in behavior I imagine.
In the past we used to have maxSize limited to 70% on the vertical axis, and now it seems there's no such limit in place at first glance.
There were also some slight changes to the horizontal padding calculations, but I haven't really noticed anything visible in that regard.
@Zigurana and @jdrassa - was this change deliberate, is it required for the Carousel theme changes, or was it just an omission? Maybe it's now configurable in the theme?
Truth be told, this is mostly cosmetic, so I'll leave it to the owners here to assert the best next steps. I personally liked it best the way it used to be, but it's not something I would personally push back on in any way.

@pjft I noticed this too, but wasn't sure if it was me or not. Thanks for the clarification. I also prefer the previous behaviour as they seem to zoom a bit much imho (at least on carbon). Minor thing though.

slide transition 4 life! :)
-
slide is much better than fade
-
@DarkWolf @dankcushions I wouldn't mind slide so much if it weren't for the awful (to my liking) zooming effect when launching games.
But is this zoomed logo thing only noticeable in fade, though?
-
@pjft The fade effect only appears with the slide setting...
Fade only has fading, no zooming -
-
@DarkWolf I'm not sure that's correct, unless we're referring to the same thing by different names.
"Fade" will fade in and out when we transition between system -> gameList, and from gameList to game.
"Slide" will have the fancy sliding different elements when moving between systems on the systemView, but when launching a game it will zoom in on center, fade out, launch game, and come back.@BuZz -> Thanks for filing it. Subscribed.
-
@pjft I know that... I guess you wrote that down better than me
-
@DarkWolf Sorry - just wanted to make sure we were saying the same thing or if I was missing something (which wouldn't surprise me at all! ) :)
-
@pjft i believe that prior to video preview support, the zoom effect on the slide transition actually zoomed in on the "md_image". This was actually pretty cool in my opinion. Once video support was added the zoom started to zoom to the center of the screen. To test this, simply set up a system with only "md_image" are and no video. As long as no videos are present in that entire gamelist, you should zoom into the image. This is the case on my builds since i started, i assume that you will experience the same thing? Let me know.
Edit: i guess I am talking about just a detailed view, the zoom should zoom on the image in a detailed view, it does not work properly on a video view.
-
@TMNTturtlguy I already noticed that and it is kinda sad. It would be much better if it zooms in to the video as there would be a picture
-
@DarkWolf AGREED!
-
The weird thing is that the original creator of Carbon (Rookervik) hasn't fixed the logo size. It kind of bugs me because I'm used to it being normal. I think the fix for the PSX controller should be either updating RetroArch, or trying to press a button while loading the game.

I think there's a little dust on the top of the tv box ;)

@nasp2000 said in RetroPie themes zooming in logos?:

What do you exactly mean, the Raspberry Pi, or the TV box? Look, my PS3 controller runs through Bluetooth, and sometimes when I restart, RetroPie goes to the previous state. This also happens when you disconnect the Pi while it's on. And that's happened a few times where the Select+Start buttons would refuse to work and desperate measures call for desperate times. Do I need to re-install the image?
