Setting up SFTP through a mac
-
Hey guys,
I tried searching through previous posts, but couldn't find an answer.
I have my Raspberry Pi 3 Model B set up with Retropie 4.2 and I want to access it via my mac (OS 10.12.5). I've tried setting up an SFTP with Cyberduck and FileZilla, but it never connects up. I might be setting it up wrong.
Could someone please give me some on help on this.
Thanks

I believe you have to enable SSH.
-
Make sure you are connected to the same local network and you have enabled ssh in raspi-config.
In cyberduck open a new connection.Choose SFTP from the dropdown menu. Enter your Pi's IP address in the Server. Enter port 22. Use pi as username and raspberry as password. Leave SSH Private Key as none. Hit connect then accept the fingerprint from the pi.
That's how it goes on my mac. Hope this helps. if you need to do command line functions try a program called zoc7.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies.
I will try this out tomorrow and let you know.
Cheers

Did you ever get this working?
I'm having trouble connecting to SFTP via Mac too.
I have enabled SSH in the config menus and also tried putting a file called SSH in boot. Still no joy?

@StuMcBill Haven't tried yet, hopefully will get a chance by the end of the week.

Have you managed to connect using SSH via Terminal? I would make sure that is working first so then at least you know the system is reachable and you have the right IP and logins etc.

@chubsta no that doesn't seem to work either.

I use a Mac and have been able to connect through Filezilla, Mac's built in Terminal, and vSSH. I like vSSH because it saves my password, unlike Mac terminal.
Here's the Filezilla Settings...
.
Of course, you'll need to know your Pi IP address, user name, and password.
Here are my settings for vSSH...
Hope this helps.
(June 28 update- Hopefully the images show up now)

the images don't show up....
@StuMcBill have you definitely got the correct IP address for the Pi? You should at the very least get as far as the login prompt if you have ssh enabled correctly on the Pi itself and wireless is working...
-
@chubsta yeah I definitely have the correct IP address, have enabled SSH in my pi, which has WiFi connected, ensured my Mac and pi are on the same network and still nothing.
I'll try again tomorrow and post up my results.

Ok, I've made sure that I have SSH enabled on my Pi, my IP address is correct and I have just tried connecting and I get the following error:
Connection Failed
Broken transport; encountered EOF. The connection attempt was rejected. The server may be down, or your network may not be properly configured. On Terminal I get:
Connection closed by 192.168.0.xx port 22.
Any ideas?

@StuMcBill
The IP address of 192.168.0.xx is typically a router IP address, and port 22 is the SSH port. You may want to check to see if your router is blocking this SSH port.
