First off I want to thank everyone on this site for the massive amounts of information in these forums. I've been able to setup my rpi3 running retropie and gotten multiple games working with wireless xbox360 controller.

The whole purpose of me doing this though was to try and get Golden Tee working with a trackball. I have it running on my windows 7 pc with MameUi64, so I know it can be done. Just not sure what MAME version is equivalent on Raspberry Pi.

Question is how do we get it working on retropie?

Golden Tee requires the ITEAGLE BIOS Rom so...

Right now I've got the iteagle.zip file in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-advmame/iteagle.zip
      and then I have gtfore06 in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-advmame/gtfore06/gtfore06.chd

But I don't even see gtfore06 to even click.

I'm not at home right now to test but going to try moving the gtfore06 chd to /opt/retropie/configs/mame-advmame/image/gtfore06/gtfore06.chd (found from http://blog.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/advmame-106-chd-games/)

Any other input would be greatly appreciated!!

firstly, what version of golden tee is that? the list of golden tee games supported on advmame does not include 'gtfore06' - i suggest you read https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs

you can't just put any old mame zip file in a directory - it has to match the romset for the emulator you are using :)

Ok, that's probably my first issue that Golden Tee Fore 2006 is not supported by any of the mame's on Retropie.

Anyway I could compile a newer MAME version that would run it?

you can build lr-mame2010 (mame set 0.139) and lr-mame (current mame set) via the experimental menu in the retropie-setup menu. i don't think mame2010 supports it but current mame should, if you can run it on pc.

both cores are unsupported and undocumented by retropie, so expect problems...

ok after building those then i would place my iteagle bios in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro
and then my golden tee chd in /opt/retropie/configs/mame-libretro/image/gtfore06/gtfore06.chd
              ??

Did you ever get Golden Tee Fore! 2006 working? I am very interested in getting this to work and all attempts have been unsuccessful up to this point. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

There is a second challenge--getting the trackball working. I am almost MORE curious about how you accomplish that feat. I have a trackball and 2 spinners working very nicely in Advancemame, but I have been less successful using libretro cores. You won't find support for that ROM in Advancemame, so if you pulled this off, how did you setup the trackball?

sorry gang. no i didn't ever get 2006 working. I had to go back all the way to 2000 to get it working on advance mame. I never bought the trackball but assume it would work for you caver01 since you already have working with your other games

@mseller I realize this is 5 months old, but I am very curious how you got Golden Tee 2000 working on your Raspberry Pi. I have only had luck with the 2D versions working on RetroPie.

Can you please briefly let me know the key to getting the Golden Tee 2000 version to work?

2K works out of the box for me on a Pi3 and RP4.1 with Advmame 1.4 the only thing I had to do was edit the .RC file to enable my "mouse" ie. Trackball on my tankstick.

@mseller hi, you must rename the bios file with the same name as the game itself this is how made it work

@beaulieu80 this is a very old thread. All of the details about getting a trackball working in AdvanceMAME for Golden Tee variants and many other arcade games is detailed in the docs here under Controllers>Trackballs and Spinners
