      @RaoulAngel

      If you look in the RetroPie-Setup menu under 'Optional Packages', you'll see that both lr-stella (the libretro/RetroArch version of Stella) and the original standalone version of Stella are both available for installation. The RetroArch version lacks a few features, chief among them is support for analog controls.

          @RaoulAngel the easiest way to setup is to have both a mouse and keyboard to set up. In setting up, you will see joystick and paddle button configuration. If they both share the same "fire" button, "DO NOT" set up the paddles fire button. It will disable it in joystick games. However the joystick button works in paddle games. So do the joysticks themselves.

            So do the joysticks themselves.

            They can work as analog input, but they annoyingly auto-center, which ends up feeling like you're constantly wrestling with the controls. I solve this by mapping mouse functionality to my controller's left thumbstick, which works well, but your paddle adapter and his spinner device are still of course much better options.

              @mediamogul one of these days i want to replace the analog thumbsticks and potentiometers on a controller with "paddle" potentiometers and knobs. Just to say i did it.

                @mediamogul So... I installed it but have no idea where it is, how to get it on the menu, or where to put the games?

                  After installation, you just select it to be the default emulator from the Runcommand window. You're game ROMs will remain in the same location and The Emulation Station menu will look the same. The only difference is that the standalone version of Stella will now be launching the games.

                    There was no standalone version of Stella, in the whole list of alternate programs only Hatari was listed

                      It's under 'Optional Packages'.

                      I misread... That must mean it's not installed. Try again and see if it's added to the list.

                        You are installing Stella from the RetroPie-Setup menu right?

                          Yes, it shows a list 001, 002, etc, Stella is not on the list of stuff to install...

                            Stella should be listed as item 146 of 'Optional Packages'.

                                I selected "Install from original binaries" or something to that effect and it looks like it's doing a whole OS update or something.. I hope it doesn't erase all the customizations.. Not sure what is taking it so long to install Hatari lol

                                  You may have selected a full update of all binaries. That takes a while, but after 20 minutes, it's probably nearing completion.

                                    What does it mean "Warning, stop and start actions are no longer supported, falling back to defaults"?

                                      Now it's reinstalling all the emulators.. I hope I didn't make a mess of this!

                                        Just let it fully run. It should be OK. Of course, if you selected a full update from source, you've got a long wait ahead of you.

                                            @mediamogul The system is configured with splashscreens so there's no "runcommand" window. Any other place to change the EMU default?
