Those are the ones the keyboard use. Could it be, that it now conflicts with the keyboard config ? I have put Select to Tab in keyboard.

      it shouldn't, but it's worth testing :)

my only other suggestion is that maybe you're not looking at the right controller cfg file. is it the only one in the directory?

There is actually subfolder in the retroarch/all called retroarch-joypads, where is this config for the controller, Twin USB Joystick.cfg. You wanna read that ?

Edit: Nevermind, you already know the information of that.

Running out of ideas over here, gotta look it down tomorrow, but please feel free to write some possible options down here, I would be more than pleased.

One thing I forgot to mention is the controller I'm using. Firstly I tried with PS2 Dual Shock 2, which didn't work, but now I'm trying to get the configs done to Dual Analog-controller, I have three of those, somewhat rare ones. But I'm not suspecting the controllers, since they both work on PC with that adapter.

I saw it, thanks, but I'm too tired to look it anymore today, but I'll examine more tomorrow.

I started to think, that does the analog system affect into the config ? You see, I configured the controller with analog on, so that the red light was illuminated on the controller. After reboot, controller only works, when I press the analog on again from the controller. I propably should configure it without the analog, so that it works on the boot immediately.

Edit: Now I managed to mess up something, so that the controller works on the RetroPie-menu, but stops working on the games. And keyboard hotkeys stop working on the games as well. Time to reinstall the system again. -.-

                  I found the solution:

How to Setup PS1 PS2 controllers with the RetroPie and the "gotchas"!

So, what happened is that the adapter I'm using (same as in the video, with that sphere circle on the middle) has the player ports mirrored, Player 2 on the left and Player 1 on the right. I had wired the console controller ports from Left-port to the adapter's Left-port and Right-port to the adapter's Right-port. So it went from console's Player 1 port to adapter's Player 2-port. Guy explained in the video, that the Select + Start-hotkey command to exit the game only works with Player 1-controller, so no wonder it didn't work on me. I had similar sort of adapter previosly, but the ports were the opposite, Player 1 on the left and Player 2 on the right, so I kinda went with that in my mind in this project and thus, it went wrong way around.

But, in future for other people doing this same sort of project/configuration, test out both ports, before starting to mess up with configs too much, you save a ton of time and nerves! :D

Thank you for sharing. This is true indeed, and it's something I don't always have present.

Glad you have sorted it out!

Yea, no problem, I always wanna share something useful and make it simple for people, because I myself have sometimes tons of issues because some guides are a bit ''heavy'' or complex to read, or are made for advanced users. I might open up topic for my project over here, so you can also see, what I have created. :)

But anyway, now I'm reinstalling RetroPie to fix up the messed up configs and then I'm gonna test it out that how it work.

@DD-Indeed yes for some reason they are always backwards. What i dont understand is why most single player adapters are really two players but only one is wired up with it always being wired up to player two making them 100% useless piles of junk. The radioshack adapter is the only single player adapter i have found that is truly a single player adapter which also means it is wired correctly as player 1.

Yea, well these sort of products are cheap crap in the end, from which some will work and some don't. You basically need to buy two, if you wanna have working one. I myself managed to buy this locally and the seller had tested it, so it's functional.

But of course, if you wanna have 100 % results, GPIO is the way to go. However, making those work have awful and messy instructions and I wasn't able to get it going. Using adapter is more like plug & play, much easier and costs only couple bucks.

And now I'm happy to tell you all, that it worked! Thanks for the author of that video as well, really helpful guide for all of us. And also thank for everyone helping over here, help, friendly opinions and good points is always needed. :)

Interestingly, the controller won't work properly, until you press the Analog-button and lid up the red light, after you're started/rebooted the console. But that doesn't matter, as it kinda works like a On/Off switch for the controller.
