How to enable gridview in emulationstation
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but the gridview have been integrated to this fork of emulation station, so why can't I activate it ? When I go in the "gamelist view style" menu I can only choose between automatic, basic, detailed or video. Is there any configuration or requirement I missed ?
-
@a12c4 It has not been included in the RetroPie EmulationStation.
-
Why ? It's one of the best feature a nice frontend could have
-
@a12c4 Because no-one has submitted any such change to ES - features need to be developed. Someone worked on a gridview feature, but afaik it was never finished, and was not submitted to our fork.
-
@a12c4 You can look at the ongoing development of the Pegasus frontend which has a grid view - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/9598/announcing-pegasus-frontend
-
@buzz Ok my bad I assumed it was already implemented due to the number of people talking about it and how important a feature like that can be
-
@buzz Well I did it, it wasn't that hard after all that just took me a couple of hours and cups of coffee to integrate a basic gridview based on Jaccofk20's work
https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation/pull/190I have many idea coming to my mind for better optimization, better looking grid and more customization options for themes. But first I would like some feedback from emulation station developpers and users if it's possible, especially since it's my first pull request on this project :)
-
@a12c4 thanks!
-
Did I hear that someone added grid view again?
-
Nice to see that somebody is working on grid view again. I've never seen it in action, but i always wanted to check it out.
This probably means that i have to rescrape all images, because i don't think it would look good with with the MIX images from UXS which i'm using. Or maybe someone adds more options for metadata images someday. :) -
Such vigor!!
This sounds almost too good to be true!? When can it be implemented to ES for us non-coders? -
-
@a12c4 Oh, I was just dreaming not asking for an ETA or something. I'm kinda excited about tinkering with grid view when it comes to themes. Yet I'm also very happy with my current setup. So I can wait and see what all the great devs here can do to improve ES.
-
@a12c4 Can you post a screen of it? I have no idea what I should be excited about.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
