Project Brutality (Zdoom) Works??
-
@retrofreak89 the main menu screen is a black background, but the menu and the logo are perfectly fine for me. Must be a graphic setting you chose or one of the mods you added.
-
@edmaul69 thats weird i got the glitchy menu and background even when i first booted the game so even with default settings also without mods i also try with mods like visor its a hud but its not working for me i think ill give up on brutality and Just stick to brutal because i cant seem to fix
-
@retrofreak89 well the visor doesnt work for me but the main pk3 gives me different weapons than brutal doom so i am using it just for that. Plus project brutality has different weapons if you choose between project brutality, brutal doom and normal in the menu, so i like those options as well.
-
@edmaul69
How do all these mods run for you do u ever get slow down? What resolution u running?
The pi 3 should be able to handle brutal doom and most megawads right? But i do see some slow downs maybe its my resolution.. -
@retrofreak89 im on a 1024x768 resolution. Winters fury is nigh unplayable so i havent tested on games like that. and brutal doom has run pretty good on the games i had been playing with it. I havent really tested on games like knee deep in zdoom where there is a lot of stuff going on.
-
@edmaul69 isnt knee deel doom 1?
Also when i play brutal doom i still get the old music soundtracks even tho i added metaldoom vol4 wad hmm do i need to change it in sound options or something to get it working ?Edit: Wow lol i Just tried Just the base game doom on 1024x resolution it lags a little is your pi overclocked or something?? 800x600 is fine tho
-
@retrofreak89 nope not overclocked. I run them from a samsung class 10 micro sd card, not a hard drive. You can run games that use doom and ultimate doom with mods. Just point to those doom files instead of doom2.wad. Kizd uses ultimate doom.
Also just an fyi dosbox games lag a lot worse from a hard drive.
-
@edmaul69 huh in confused?
I also run from a class 10 SD card and not overclocked..
I guess i cant play all megawads? I Just tried valient and the first level has open Arras and langs like crazy talking like 12fps and thats without mods Just Valiant sux i wish rpi 3 was a bit stronger
My pc fried long ago so i cant play there and no money to rebuy new one pi is all i got for doom anyways.
I dont get how yours is running smoother than mine could u try the Valiant mod for and let me know if the first level in open area runs good that runs horrible for me anyways that of u want too at least..
Valiant is good tho at least i heard but idk why it runs so slow.. -
Just tested brutal valient and smooth as butter.
-
@edmaul69 the beginning part is smooth but once u get outside it lags like crazy(the first part when you go outside where all the boxes are there) i also tested doomworld mega project 2016 it has 50 maps and even there some of the maps that are outside lag like crazy but inside smooth as butter weird i guess rpi 3 cant handle the outside textures in some levels??
-
@retrofreak89 ok i will test going outside when i get the chance. Are you just doing valiant or brutal valient?
-
@edmaul69 Just regular vol thats why i dont get it :( the lag part is in the first level after you get your first keycard you open a door that takes you outside that part lags rly bad in the pi i checked YouTube and its not soposed to lag so i guess the pi cant handle that part?
Same with the Doomworld 2016 Project megawad
Alot of maps in that so lag like Valiant and also during outside -
@retrofreak89 well there are a few games that lag really bad. So that may be something you will have to accept. I will test out valiant though. If it happens outside try disabling the sky textures and see if that helps
-
@edmaul69 how do i disable the skytextures i dont see it in the settings?
-
@retrofreak89 i have to look into that. I thought you could but maybe not. However if you go into display options and change screen size it will give you less lag (not resolution) it is the first option in display options. When i played through the first level of winters fury, there were parts where i needed to make the screen size as small as possible to even get through them and that was still laggy as hell. But level 2 was completely unplayable which is a shame because the game is sweet. I will try to see about adjusting the sky.
-
@edmaul69 did you check to see if Valiant is laggy for you once u reach ur first key and open the door there is An open area and it will lag.
If i adjust screensize ill loose my hud? I play rly low resolution too i dont get it
-
This is what happens when you use a dead build of zdoom, you get free disappointment with every mod.
-
Did u test Valiant open area?
-
@retrofreak89 playing on the default difficulty with a minimum of 5 enemies, tons of rockets and other objects, and a blue orb on the screen no lag outside.
-
@edmaul69 wth do u got to go outside where those boxes are and there is no lag for you? Then how come it lags hard for me there om running rpi 3 b stock and Zdoom most of the settings are on low and even 640x resolution what are you doing to make it run so good?..
Im worried something is set wrong for me?
I wonder what u did to get it to run so good can you tell me?Edit: Can you help me figure out whats possible going on?? Because few days i put a fresh copy of retropie on my and card its also fully updates the script and packages even os kernal its a Raspberry Pi 3 B the latest so should be the same as yours?
Its also stock,Doom it.self i have the particulier and decal amount set to lowest possible and resolution is 640x so not sure whats going on i hope you have some insight and can help me maybe you have some sort of setting or something that makes it run better?
Plz can u tell me what i can do it seems most open Arras Just lag something to do with sky?
I have the same pi and SD card Class as you whats going on ;/ i rly want to play these wads
