@briandamico take all your games and apps you have and put them in your macintosh folder on your pi. The unix hard drive is that folder. So now you can open up the unix drive, drag an app onto the desktop and install it. Then on the macintosh drive if there isnt a games folder create one. Then put all your installed games in there.
when i was saying 32 bit i was talking about changing the color inside mac os. It doesnt use bits for its color. Its like 16 colors, 256 colors, millions, and billions. But dont worry about that at the moment
-
@edmaul69 ok i have a shared folder that is in the Macintosh roms folder which has the games folder in it. i moved that over the macintosh HD icon
was that not good enough
should i have the games folder directly in the main area and not in a sub folder
-
Probably.
-
If it works the same way as the ninty consoles, leave it in the main area
-
@edmaul69 i should also mention, the games are already unzipped and in dedicated folders.
no installation is needed. its just click and open and play but thats not the case right now like it is via basilisk on the mac where the icon is present to click, open, and play. -
@edmaul69 so in pi/roms/macintosh/ i made a folder called games. and put all the games in their singular file form removed from the folders they were in with their own titles and a few other random files associated with them. just the games are in one folder called games.
went into the os and moved the games folder from unix to the desktop.
opened the folder, icons were still white and same error occurred when trying to openand again, not the problem on basilisk on the mac. they open just fine
-
@briandamico that iS strange. Can you post a good screenshot of this issue on the pi?
-
@briandamico i think i know the issue. Can you install an application called stuffit expander 5.5?
-
@edmaul69 i can and believe its in there
let me seegoing to include some photos first hang on
-
-
@edmaul69 same error
i had stuffit 4.1 or or something on the shared folder already and dragged it to the desktop and it was white and when opened it gave that same error -
@briandamico are you putting the installation apps or already installed games in the games folder in the macintosh folder?
-
MacOS classic apps always need to be brought into the Basilisk environment in their original stuffed (.sit) or image (.img) formats and unpacked from there. Classic Mac applications had resource forks that are lost when introduced to other file systems, which is why they are appearing white. Without the resource forks, the Mac doesn't even know what they are.
-
i had put already installed apps i had unzipped.
they worked just find on the mac version of basiliskthe website i got these from had zip files per each letter that i can try and see if they work to unzip via the pi but doubt it.
ill have to see if i can find them in this .sit format i guess. let me take a look
-
@edmaul69 i stand corrected now. the games were unzipped from .dsk files which then opened an image with the games in their own folders just ready to go. no installation process needed and yes these worked just fine on the os via mac basilisk
-
@briandamico if one of you want to check out emaculation in google search you can see what i have and am dealing with via that site
-
Nice. Mounting a .dsk in the Basilisk environment will of course also preserve the resource forks, as the disk image was formatted to accomodate.
Edit: Ah, I see you were talking about the previous applications that you were able to get working. As long as everything is unpacked after being brought into Basilisk, everything should be fine.

@mediamogul
So what do you think I should do. The games/files are the same files that were used and opened just fine in basilisk on the mac.If I am even able to unzip a dsk in os 7.5 the files are still the same as they were before.
The bigger question is, why do the games appear to open fine in basilisk on the mac but not on the pi when it's using he exact same os file?

It could be that the current MacOSX still retains the ability to preserve resource forks in it's file system. Classic apps were supported early on in OSX and it might be a holdover. I was assuming that .dsk was a somewhat standard disk image, but it might be a type of self-mounting image that the MacOS needs to read as an application.
Two apps I have installed in Basilisk are 'Stuffit Expander 5.5' and 'Disk Copy 6.3.3'. Anything I bring into Basilisk on the Pi opens with one or the other. have you tried opening the .dsk file with 'Disk Copy' or was it ever embedded in a .sit, .bin, or .hqx file that Stuffit should be opening?
