      Hi everyone,

I managed to bork my Retropie beyond recovery, so I had one question.
Is it possible to take one save (Super Mario World) and save it and have it put back in for use after resinstalling Retropie?

Yes, if your pi will boot to command line, you still should be able to access the file system through SSH/ftp clients. Find your SNES roms folder, locate the rom for Super Mario World, and next to it should be a file for SMW with a .srm extension. That's a battery backup file. Save that file to your PC, redo your retropie installation, drop the .srm file back into the snes roms folder (make sure its named the same as your SMW rom) and you're good to go.

I put my SD card into a computer and all I'm seeing is an overlays folder, and a bunch of random system files under it. Is it all gone?

            @dirthurts you cant do that.

            Pi cards are 2 partitions:
1 - boot partition, few hundred megs, readable by windows
2 - retropie partition, all the gigs, only readable on linux

Windows ignores the second partition. You would need to read it on a linux based computer (or get virtualbox on windows and install a linux virtual machine).

If your Pi boots into the command line (retropie doesnt start, but you get the command prompt on a black screen), and you have previously connected your Pi to your home's wireless network, you should be able to SSH into your pi and browse the file system OR locate the device RETROPIE on your local network and browse the files that way.

Ah, I see! I have connected it to my network, so I should be able to get back in. Sweet! Thanks so much!

@dirthurts Once you see it on the network, you can probably just back up all of your rom folders and move them to a new retropie install, that way you can save some time. All games and saves will be intact if you do that.

I'm going to give that a try when I get back to my network.
When using a browser, is it
                  "\RETROPIE" to connect?

I think so, but i dont use this method and im on mac, some windows users here could probably elaborate how to go through the windows file browser, a search on the forum will probably turn up info on that one.

O.K. Recovered the game and the safe, Woot! But, there is a problem.
I launched the game once, saw that it was there, and shut it down. Now, I'm back to play and it's not showing up. I've tried removing the rom, adding it back, and even removing the save. Mario World isn't showing up at all. What can I do?

Thanks for all the help again.

Ok, so I never figured out why the original isn't showing, but, I manged to get it to show up after renaming it a bit. ??

Weird, did you rename the save file also and restore your progress? If so, then problem solved i guess. haha. Probably a gamelist.xml problem, but theres no way to be sure

Yes, I did! I managed to continue my progress with no issue. I'm completely stumped, but hey, I'm gaming so I'm happy. :)

Well, I figured out the root cause.
Scraping, every time, removes the game from being shown. I have to rename it every time. I don't know/understand what's happening here. I don't know if other games are disappearing as well, as I have about 100 of them on there.

@dirthurts hit the start button in ES to bring up the settings and go into UI settings and see if you have Parse Gamelists Only turned on. If so, turn it off. That setting hides any game that is not scraped.

Also if you are having scraping issues, you can go in and delete the gamelist.xml for snes and rescrape that system, that should fix up your errors.
