      @sleve_mcdichael
      I fix it by manual editing retroarch.cfg in all and psx, nes, snes etc.
      I needed to have saves in saves/snes, saves/snes/snes making a conflict with rclone.

      Hm, save states are not portable also between emulators, so as a starting point you should use the same emulators when testing.

      But since you're using a Pi 0, the same emulator from the Pi3 may not be available or perform well enough to be a viable alternative on a lower spec system.

      Okay then. At the very least the info in the thread should help me out.

      No hard feelings BTW.

      @siwobrody Me neither. As a last check you can try setting the savestate_directory key in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg to something else, for example savestate_directory = "/home/pi".

      @RetroSavior If your free space is below 5% of partition capacity, you'll not be able to save anything - the OS reserves 5% for the root user, so it's unusable for regular users.

      @Odd_Pixie said in Having issues with HotKeys not working and saving games.:

      Problem 1: Hotkeys do not seem to work when running SNES games but seem fine for N64.

      What button have you mapped as Hotkey during the controller configuration ?
      If you don't choose a button, the configuration dialogue will ask you if you want to use Select. You problem is that RetroArch doesn't know which is your Hotkey (the N64 emulator is not a RetroArch emulator, so I think it's set by default with Select + Start, that's why it doesn't work).

      Problem 2: I seem to be having issues with game saves. As I understand it, the save doesn't actually write until you perform the Start + Select to exit the game. Is it possible to save progress in a game without using an in game save point first? Is there another way to work this or do I misunderstand something?

      Yes, you can use Save States , which are handled by the emulator itself (RetroArch most of the times). You can use the Save State and Load State commands to save/load your save states (see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#default-joypad-hotkeys). Note that you still have to exit cleanly the emulator with Hotkey + Start. Shutting down your PI while the emulator is started is not advisable anyway, you should always use the Emulationstation menu to shutdown your PI (unless you have a button that does the shutdown).

      The docs have a detailed page on overclocking here , including how to actually do it (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Overclocking/#overclocking-methods).

      @dirthurts hit the start button in ES to bring up the settings and go into UI settings and see if you have Parse Gamelists Only turned on. If so, turn it off. That setting hides any game that is not scraped.

      Also if you are having scraping issues, you can go in and delete the gamelist.xml for snes and rescrape that system, that should fix up your errors.

      @tygr20

      Unless you have an older RetroPie install, high scores should be saving in lr-mame2003 according to:
      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/lr-mame2003#high-scores

      MAME4ALL I'm not sure about, but I would think you could add the same file or perhaps an older variant.

      This tool MPKEdit does what you want. load the .N64 file then save it as a normal .MPK which can then be converted to Mupen's .srm format with whatever tool you have.

      Edit: OK so you're trying to extract EEPROM saves from an MPK file, not trying to use an actual controller pak save. Open the .N64 in MPKEdit, then Hold Control (save icons for note should turn red) and click the save icon. then rename it as required, convert it to SRM as required, etc.

      @BuZz said in RetroArch (Pi) Save Slot Issue (always #0):

      @zoop see my post above. You can't update automatically to include that fix currently. You need to wait until I update retroarch, eg for v1.4.2 - the module doesn't build the bleeding edge code anymore. I got fed up fixing things over and over again.

      Yeah, sounds like a reasonable approach. Thanks for the update. I will eagerly anticipate 1.4.2 :)

      Most of what you need should be outlined here: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/retroarch-configuration

      It goes over controls and talks about the defaults. Look for the video Tutorial links. There is one on testing joysticks that shows haoe to test joypads and get button numbers. they are done better than I can explain in words.
