Help for a novice please!
-
I bought a raspberry pi 3 with noobs installed on a 32gb microsd. I downloaded retropie onto my laptop and then used Etcher to transfer the retropie image to the sd. I no longer appear to have raspbian. Is there a way of having both? Help please!

@kottal
Yes, of course!
Here are instructions on how to use NOOBS:

@DarkWolf so I now need to reformat sd and reinstall noobs?

@kottal
If you want to use noobs, yesIf you want to install Retropie on a existing Raspbian system thatn just run the RetroPie-Setup Script on that.. You can than start it on the Raspbian User Interface
In addition:
Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-firstThere is already a topic about this here:

@dudleydes yes I was hoping to access Retropie from the desktop menus. When I boot up now it goes straight to retropie. What's the easiest way of getting the menu back and accessing from there ? Reinstall noobs and run a retropie setup script or do the pixel thing you said?

@DarkWolf Like I said, there is already a topic and a wiki page about that, follow this instructions and you will have what you want:

@kottal RetroPie and EmulationStation cannot be run from the desktop but you can launch the PIXEL desktop from ES. If you prefer, you can boot into the desktop instead of ES - instructions to do this are here. In this case, you would need to exit the desktop to launch ES.
How you wish to proceed is up to you - either install PIXEL in RetroPie and have the desktop as a launch option in ES or install RetroPie on NOOBS, which has the desktop already installed, using the links provided by @DarkWolf.
