TFT Giving Black Screen during Retropie, EmulationStation splash, and main menu

After many hours of troubleshooting the 3.5" TFT+ from Adafruit, I'm stuck. Upon boot, I no longer get a Retropie, ES splash, or the ES main menu (where you select emulators, roms, etc.). If I wait a few moments and press F4, I get to the terminal, so I know the screen is functioning and at least partially setup properly. It's just the opening splashes and menus that aren't working. I'm using a Pi 3, Adafruit's 3.5" TFT+, and I'm running Retropie 4.2. I've gone through the installation process here and here I am.
