When Did ES Switch To Black Loading Screen?

I hadn't updated my Pis with the latest RetroPie in a few weeks, but today when I updated to 4.2.4 and rebooted I saw that the EmulationStation loading screen had a black background instead of the familiar white one. When did that change? Does it mean something other than an aesthetic choice?

I do too, but at first I thought my TV was inverting colors or something was broken.

Did you take a look at the UI settings?
Someone added a view setting. That person is a genius! Very helpful when creating/maintaining themes. -
I loved the black background!
Did you notice you can choose the omx video player? Now I have video preview playable on my raspi1. :-)

I noticed this two the other day when doing an update. I like it as well! Maybe it will help save a little bit of power when booting on battery powered handhelds ;-)

What else makes it better with the black is it solves the video splashscreen overlapping issue for most people as its usually just a cosmetic issue of the white bars on the top and bottom.

We have @Rookervik to thank for the newly improved splash. It was my longest standing pull request. And it was only once @pjft fixed the black background.
I think it looks swell. Sucks for all the people who hacked their video splashes to end in a white screen but eh. Looks better regardless. Less blinding when I play games at 2AM

Following the same reasoning, I think that the @mattrixk 's IO theme can help in this point as well. ;-)

@meleu I'm not used to people remembering Io exists. I'm halfway though making it work with Video Previews, but I got distracted.
