Resolution not working anymore after lates Retropie Update
-
I have a Samsung SyncMaster 203B with Resolution 1400 x 1050
In config.txt I haveHDMI_force_hotplug = 1
HDMI_group=2
HDMI_mode=42which always worked. Now I upgraded all packages today and on the screen it shows "Not the right Resolution. Optimized Resolution 1400 x 1050 recommended"...
Did something change regarding the graphic modes? What can I do.
It works with a newer SyncMaster ...but my 203B is build in my Arcade and fits perfectly...so any idea what I can do?

...also doesn't work with HDMI_mode=16

..unfortunately still found no solution to get Monitor working again.
Any idea how I can switch easily back from 4.2 to Retropie 4.1? -
The HDMI settings are managed by the Raspberry Pi Kernel. Whilst RetroPie will offer to update the Underlying OS Kernel during updates, it isn't something that is within the RetroPie project itself.
That being said, I have a Dell 17" widescreen that runs at 1400 x 1050 and using HDMI Group 2 and mode 42 still works for me on the latest update (4.2.5) with the kernel updated.
I don't know if it makes any difference, but the official documentation (https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt/video.md) lists those settings in lowercase, if you are using HDMI in uppercase, maybe it makes a difference.
Also, I noticed you said HDMI mode 16 didn't work, in group 1 that is 1080p 60Hz, I wouldn't think your monitor would support that, whilst in group 2 it is 1024x768 60Hz. Normally (not always) if you don't force a specific mode, the HDMI negotiates the specific resolution of the screen (or supported resolution, not always the same). Using this method was how I decided on my monitor being group 2 mode 42 (as that was the resolution it auto-detected), I then set it in the config so that if I moved my Pi to my 1080p screen the overlays didn't break (as they were configured manually).

to chekck I made myself a Recalbox (latest version) ...with
disable_overscan = 1
hdmi_group=2
HDMI_mode =16 (later I used 42)
HDMI_force_hotplug = 1...and it works with my Samsung 230b... now I have to find out what is different in newest retropie version.
