I had a base RetroPie setup and working with a few test ROMs on my Ubuntu VM. I decided to add a share using this guide and then I dumped a bunch of ROMs onto my VM. All off a sudden now all ROMs do no work. When I open a ROM for any system the screen goes black to drop to the emulator then it goes straight back to EmulationStation.

I tried deleting all RetroPie directories, reinstalling, and re-updating patches. I still have the same issues with emulators crashing. Any ideas what could be the problem?

      System:
      Dell Optiplex 990
      16GB RAM
      AMD Radeon HD 6450
XBox 360 wired controller and PS3 wired controller

RetroPie is on Ubuntu VM hosted on Oracle VM Virtual Box
