I always wonder how accurate these charts are but I thought this was interesting!
The Wii out sold both Xbox 360 and PS3!
Also I would have figured the Atari 2600 was 1st gen!
This chart is awesome. Wonder how PS4 and XBox One sold. With the Wii owning so much of the 7th gen market, I wonder if there was even any uptick in sales after approx 40 years of video game console user growth.

The dedicated PONG consoles are good examples of first generation successes.
Classic. Congrats on Global Moderator. It's well deserved for such a well spoken refined sir! ;)
-
@Riverstorm He was that a few weeks ago.

Well put and I bet that comes with a pay raise! ;-)
At least we wish the RetroPie devs did!

Thank you! I mostly just clean out the language filter, but sometimes I get to run the siren.

I lose more wristbands that way. I'm advocating for a swear jar.
-
@mediamogul If I had to pay everytime I swore, I'd be so damn broke.
Damnit I swore: takes out 2 dollars

lol...there's that sense of humor I've grown so fond of! The good thing about the pay scale is you don't have to worry to much about your performance reviews.

@lilbud This is how I view Nintendo's efforts on these forums
-
I'll bet under the hood it's the exact same hardware as the NES classic, just a different emulator running on top of it.
-
Well, now we know where the controllers are going to plug in…
Also, not loving that the North American controllers won't have concave buttons.
Edit: it looks like the photo I saw was not of an actual SNES Mini controller. That Super Famicom Mini though…
-
is there an adaptor available to use these controllers with the pi? I will definately get some if so, brand new orginal nintendo SNES controllers? yes please !
-
What? No concave buttons? Nintendo, what are you thinking!!!?
In all seriousness, that was something I really liked about the original SNES controllers but I might not even notice when using these new ones.
-
The Raphnet adapters are usually the best out there.

I do actually agree on the concave button thang, when I was playing SFII for the first time, it would have made my life much easier!
I've already seen people on Gumtree here in the UK selling their pre-orders, one guy has 3 'available', all at £160. Absolute w*nker. Thats what pee's me off. I do still want one, but am going to struggle I know-but I think if I was going for one, I'd go for the Famicom over the UK SNES-the designer in me thinks the Famicom logo sits better on the pads and the console, but i love the box art.
Looks like i'll be looking abroad for mine (once I've sold a kidney of course haha!).
-
It looks like the photo I linked to was a promo photo where they did a palette swap and that the actual North American controllers will have concave buttons. At least that's what I'm seeing in YouTube videos of people who seem to have gotten units early.
-
@Danorak1981 I'm thinking that I may try to locate a European one. I have my North American SNES from when I was a kid, my Super Famicom that I put a Pi 3 in, and the mini would complete the intercontinental trilogy.
Then again, I couldn't even find a US NES Classic for retail when they were out.

I've used Raphnet adapters on two controllers and on my Super Famicom Pi and all worked flawlessly. I highly recommend their products.
