MAME ROW #44 - The Last Day
-
@obsidianspider said in MAME ROW #44:
The three random numbers for this week are: 10, 920, 1116
The first number is 10 or 610?
-
Well, Mosaic isn't the puzzle game I have dropped hints towards, but I'll try anyway.
-
datsun 280 zzzap = feels slightly like some sort of driving test. probably needs a spinner or analogue controls. no sound. found it a bit like staring into an infinite, silent void. nightmarish.
the last day = sub-par scrolling shootemup. suffers a bit from 'invisible bullets syndrome' and absolutely murders your thumb/finger. music also is on the tightest possible loop and is horrible. HOWEVER i got to the boss and got an ok score so i'll vote for this ;)
mosaic = this is kind of interesting. basically tetris, but there seems to be some kind of gimmick. i think you have to get the flashing blocks by completing their line(s) to complete the stage. it also seems like you don't want to be completing many other lines as that speeds the game up, but maybe it's good for score. also, at the end of a set of stages you see a terrifying picture of a girl.
i'll probably vote for the last day but i'll give mosaic a second look, as there's something about it..
-
@meleu It should have been 10, but I mistyped it and it's already in the poll, so we'll go with it. ;)
-
@obsidianspider Hey man, you mistyped the 610, not the 10. I mean, everything is fine, Datsun 280 Zzzap is the game number 10, as you can see here.
By the way, the game 610 is Gaplus (rev. D), looks like a Galaga clone...
-
@meleu oops, well, Datsun is the game up for consideration. :)
-
Only two votes this week. It was a tie.
Since The Last Day Was second on the list, that was an "even" choice and Mosaic was third, that was an "odd" choice.
random.org chose 62, even.
This week's winner is The Last Day
As of right now, we've had 122 views on this thread, but only two votes? It makes me wonder why we're doing this if there's so little engagement…

Talking about my case:
My work schedule is 1 week of intense work (12 ininterrupt hours, day shift), 1 week of days off, 1 week of intense work (12h again, but night shift), 2 weeks of days off. Also, there's an unfortunate coincidence: my weeks start/end on wednesdays. Then there are MAME ROWs where I can vote but I can't play (this was what happened in Chopper I and Armed Formation rounds).
When I'm on my days off I try hard to get the best score, but when I'm on my week of work I'm unable to play (I could vote, but I don't like to do it without trying the game). And that's the case this week.
Well... enough talking about me. :-) I would like to say that we should try to continue a little more.
-
I generally check the latest MAMEROW thread, but unfortunately don't have a lot of time to play at the moment.
I don't think it's fair for me to vote if I know I don't have a chance to play the games, so I only vote when I've at least had the chance to check them out, and hopefully will have some time to play them and submit a score!
I never fail to be surprised at how soon Wednesday comes round again each week!
The good news is next week I have a sort-of holiday as my wife and son are off to visit her parents, so apart from work, and the inevitable list of 'husband chores' I will be left with (and likely ignore until the day before they are due back) I should have a bot more gaming time!
-
maybe there could be a reminder in the last day of voting? like this week, i played the 3 games, but thought i might get to play them more before i did my final vote, but never did, and then i forgot to vote :)
i also struggle to fit in playing the chosen game each week, but i think that's less of a problem. there's no real 'deadline' for that part of it - you can keep playing and submitting scores after the week has finished.
-
@dankcushions How do you propose we remind people?
-
@obsidianspider just a post in the thread should be enough. i get email alerts because i always 'watch' the threads :)
-
@dankcushions I can try to do that. I actually turned off the automatic emails because I was getting too many. Now I opt-in to the threads I want to stay up to the minute on.

@obsidianspider Sorry, I missed MAME ROW 's deadline this week.
Jokes aside, another crazy working week.
-
@dankcushions I signed up for email alerts, it's the closest thing we got to notifications
@UDb23 The comic is the story of my life
-
-
@meleu 260,520?! I have my work cut out for me.
-
I got nowhere near @meleu's high score, but I have some good news.
