-
@gamerguy010101
You will need to show us whats wrong so we can show you how to fix it. -
@Gamerguy010101 Do you have a smartphone with a camera ? Use that to record video. Go to youtube and sign in. Find the upload button and ad your video. Then youtube will give you a link. Post that link here. Simple as that
-
@gamerguy010101 Please, understand that everyone is trying their best to help you navigate that with the limited information you're providing, on their free time.
If we are to troubleshoot this, as Buzz stated in the other thread, it can certainly be some sort of hardware incompatibility or something.
I'd recommend trying another keyboard in your Pi and seeing if it works. It's hard to rule out - or in - anything at all with the limited information we're getting. It can be the keyboard, it can be the Pi, it can be the power adaptor, it can be anything, really.
-
I understand that, but im not exactly trying to fix the keyboard so that I can use it in retropie. im trying to use the terminal to get the controller to work. (and wifi through terminal).
-
and also, if you need any other information, you can always ask still.
-
At this stage I'm no longer sure what's wrong here.
You state
"problem: because the keyboard cant be configured and I can really only use terminal, I cant get the wifi setup and if I try to set it up with terminal it says that there isnt a thing to save it at."
What's the actual error message you're getting, and when do you get it?
The last instructions you got were the right ones. If the file doesn't exist, and you're sure you didn't make a typo, then do create it with that content and save it.
-
How can I create the file then? can it be done from terminal still?
-
I put the sd card into a different computer (well same raspberry pi but with raspbian) and found the wpa_supplicant.conf file, but I cant change it as I have no access to it. So, in terminal I type sudo chmod +x /media/pi/retropie/ect/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf, and nothing comes up, no permission denied or anything, but when I go back to the file I still cant open it, still no access.
-
open it with root.
sudo nano /media/pi/retropie/ect/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
your chmod command is to make it executable and not for changing permissions.
-
@hex Just to note.... It is possible to import WIFI credentials via textfile :)
Insert the SD-card in any OS and you can open FAT32 partition and enter password and SSID inwifikeyfile.txt
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Wifi/#connecting-to-wifi-without-a-keyboardThe method was introduced here
-
@cyperghost @Gamerguy010101 That is certainly easier.
I have a wpa_supp file backed up. so as soon as i finish flashing an sd card I change the hostname, enable ssh and wifi.
-
@hex
Slams head against table.
I literally read this a few days ago and forgot about it. -
It finally saved :D
