Issue With WiFi

I am having an issue setting up my WiFi I go into the retropi wifi config screen try and input my wep key as I normally would it says unable to connect I know its right but it still says unable to connect. So then I back out and then my keyboard stops responding please help.
Pi Model or other hardware: 3
Power Supply used: unsure it came with the Canakit
RetroPie Version Used 4.1 i believe
Built From: From retropi site
USB Devices connected: keyboard and ps3 controller
Controller used: PS3
Error messages received: none

How to replicate the problem: try to set up wifi I input my wep key and it says its incorrect I try and try again then I back out of the wifi setup then my keyboard stops responding i give it some time and it still doesnt respond so i pull the power which i know is bad but that the only way to turn it off. -
@newpiguy I would recommend changing your router encryption to wpa. I can crack your WEP in like 20 seconds.

Also make sure you have enough clean power. -

USB Devices connected: keyboard and ps3 controllerdoes your wifi key contain special characters? i had trouble logging in to wifi when first setting up my retropie until changing the keyboard layout (logitech generic). there was a tilde (~) in the password, but the keyboard was outputting a not sign (¬) instead.
