lr-beetle-supergrafx is now very laggy.
-
@redbatman gotcha. I only used supergrafx for supergrafx games.
-
That's odd..I mean even my Rasp pi B+ will handle all of them without lag.
EDIT: Let me ask you..when you play daimakai mura (Ghouls and Ghosts) or 1941..does your character seem to move slowly or is whole thing laggy?
Make sure that you are not in 6-button mode as that slowed everything down for me as well. In your op you said something about low frame-rates though..
try clearing your filters..and remember you have to apply changes after you do that so that it takes effect..by this I mean actually using the controller to move the pointer up to "apply changes"and then selecting that..THEN resume your games and see if that helps..or try a lower resolution setting.
beyond that I have no idea.

Same problem here. Retropie updated to last version on a Raspberry 3 B. the bettle supergrafx core is laggy as hell, i cant mantain 60fps. Strange as i never had a problem with these games. I have uninstalled the core and downloaded as source and still the same.
Apparently, they have updated the core in the last update of Retroarch.
Core updates since previous version (1.6.6)
Beetle Supergrafx – add turbo on/off for 2-button controller mode (by retrowertz).I dont know what they have done but the pi doesnt like it
-
Huh...looks like I don't want to update then....
-
@akafox Make a back up of the emulator.
-
@cosmo Also for me the music is also kinda laggy too, like it's trying to keep up but it makes a mess of audio, also sound and special effects are effected too.
Edit: If we could get an administrator to look at this it would be appreciated.
-
lr-beetle-supergrafx is slow and laggy for me as well for SuperGrafx games since the new update.
Roms load fine, just run and sound like crap. Especially SuperGrafx; pretty much unplayable. For PCE/PCECD games, they are playable but the music is choppy af

An administrator here on the retropie forum can't do much..that has nothing to do with RetroPie or Emulation Station..it has everything to do with Retroarch..specifically the core itself. So you will get faster results posting a problem report here (and they need to know so they can fix it):
https://github.com/libretro/beetle-supergrafx-libretro
And it looks like this is not the only problem.
-
I updated my supergrax core to test and it appears you are correct. The "old" core does not have this problem you describe as far as I can tell.
So it does appear to be a coding issue. I'm sure they will get it fixed. Keep a hold of your old ones everybody..at least for now.
-
@akafox Can you give me the name of a game to test on it (that illustrates the issue) - I will roll back the code to see where the issue started and do a bug report.
-
@buzz dai makai mura (supergrafx ghouls and ghosts) is super obvious
-
Ninja spirit is another one.
-
I have debugged and found the issue. When CHD support was added, a DEBUG flag was left switched on which affects performance. I have submitted a fix upstream here - https://github.com/libretro/beetle-supergrafx-libretro/pull/29
(RetroArch really need to do more reviews of PRs)
-
@buzz Thanks
-
Uh do I have to update from source? Cause I did a binary update an no dice on fixing it.
-
@redbatman the fix is not yet accepted. I opened a Pull Request. Upstream needs to merge it. When they do you can install from source (or wait for me to update binaries).
-
@buzz Okay thanks again.

... When CHD support was added...
Holy...really!!!!?? wags my tail excitedly can not wait to try this out! Finally I can fit some bin/cues on a sd card! :D
Hey BuZz What version of CHDs is used?
(I forget the numbers..but I'll get them posted if anybody cares.) -
@akafox no idea. Not checked.
-
@buzz So I just compiled it. I used no flags and turned off the debug in the makefile. Compiled no errors. I don't know if I need enable some flags or not. Or at least tell it to compile for the rasp pi.
Seems to have worked though. The core loads and plays smooth. Have not tried the chd yet..i'll get back to you on that.
Other thing the core that I compiled through retropie is 1.9MB the on I compiled is only 810.3 kb.....huh?? lol
