@graphicsgod to disable the ES loading screen you have to put
<bool name="SplashScreen" value="false" />
in your es_settings.cfg. Although I wish it was an option in the gui because I have to redo that after every update. The only thing that I really want is, one more image (screenshot) that can be read from the gamelist and that md_marquee was available in detailed view. Especially with grid view getting closer that would be great. Because, as much as I like the mix images from Universal XML scraper, I believe that those wouldn't suit grid view. So I either have to use covers only in detailed view or mix images in grid view. If I could have md_marquee and (something like) md_screenshot, I would be able to recreate my mix images (or something else that looks nice) and also would be prepared for grid view.

@vikingrock Okay, then you should learn to code. Half of your requests (demands) Have noting to do with RetroPie. Those are upstream, child... The rest are pointless or you could actually help yourself. People can be demanding, I just laugh.
-
@jonnykesh This is not a thread for feature request. It is a thread to get ideas and user opinions. The devs browsing this thread might like a feature enough to incorporate it.
There is nothing upstream to retropie ES. It is the only fork in active development.
It is ok to share Ideas and requests here. A request is not a guarantee that it will be done.
-
@hex Okay. I'm wrong then. I’d like a pony with every download. I would love RetroPie to integrate with my coffee maker too. I would love a non-stolen idea in every child's ear...
-
@jonnykesh Dear Johnny, Like Hex said, this is a place to share ideas. I think that share wishes and ideas is not sin. You must to be respectful with others... You dont need to be sarcastic... Kindness, understanding and respect is a pillar of any conversation...
I'm new in Pi scene and recently I have migrated from Recalbox to Retropie because the Retropie, in my opinion have more options, customizations and a better scene and community is more active.

@vikingrock welcome aboard bro!

@meleu Thanx my friend... I'm a old school gamer and my first console was a Atari 2600 in 1982, since them I have passed from all console generations, from Nintendo to Neo Geo cd, Sony , 3do and today I have PS4.
But I love old school games, especially Arcades, Laserdisc games, 8 and 16 bit generations.
I was very active player in Arcades... All good nostalgic memories...
I'm really happy to discover a Retropie scene, because today I can revive the old good times playing my favorite Arcades and consoles in confort of my home.
Retropie to me is a time machine... If you think that I'm game collector, you are wrong... I'm collect memories...
I will never forget the day that I saw the first Double Dragon in Arcade... That vision changed my life and blow my mind...

You should join us in the MAME ROWs. ;-)

I would really love 2 things:
-Atari800XL emulator without a mandatory keyboard and all the main keys mapped to the joystick, and being able to choose bewteen pad and analog stick (I know there's a way with that xbox360 driver tutorial but it's kinda hard to do honestly, for the ones that has zero knowledge about it)
-A way to play Zapper/Super Scope type games!
-
@mahcneto Light Gun games for home consoles would be amazing!
-
A demo mode. Maybe from the games of a collection. Like the tv demos in stores. Launch a game from the list and change to another one (random?) in 10 minutes (configurable?).
-
Couple things that would please me:
- Hotkey-options, that can be accessed straight away from the EmulationStation, where you could change them easily.
- 3 or 4 button Hotkey-combo to exit the game. Many times I've accidentally pressed the default Select + Start while gaming.
Other things that propably should go into Retroarch feedback instead:
- Bringing in the latest PCSX-Reloaded features to the lr-pcsx-rearmed:
''Anti-jitter options in graphics plugins, such as GTE accuracy in the default Peops OpenGL plugin/Improved coordinate accuracy in Edgbla's gpuBladeSoft.'' Those would make the PS1 games look butter smooth, when the known polygon/texture ''jumping'' is corrected.
- Some new graphical plugins, that would be purely designed to effect the 2D stuff only in 3D games. Most PS1 games looks great in terms of 3D graphics, but the static 2D graphics would need some plugins to polish/tweak them a bit.

I'm not even sure if that was ported over to the pi in the first place.
-
It's not, yet. It's only available for the PC version atm.
-
Something I'd like to see, even if it is quite a stretch, is some kind of support for the "Play!" emulator, which is a PS2 emulator that's been surprisingly decent at running games on Android devices (well, "surprisingly" for android, it's certainly no PCSX2).
While I'm fully aware that it would never reach full-speed on a typical Raspberry Pi 3 (I mean, it can barely run Dreamcast games, and even that's kinda the limit of emulation on a Pi 3), it would be neat to say "Hey, this 35-dollar computer that's the size of a credit card can play Flipnic: Ultimate Pinball in a somewhat-playable-but-most-likely-runs-at-3-frames-per-second state."
-
I'd love for somebody to finally code EmulationStation to ignore “A”, “An”, and “The” in the beginning of a game title. Preferably just with the gamelist.xml display name if it can't be done for both that and the rom and/or zip filename.
-
Isnt there a thread for that? I think i just saw one.
-
@hex Yeah. I just replied in that thread too, but then I saw this feature request thread and thought I'd mention it here too. Drives me crazy that this feature hasn't been implemented anywhere yet.
On the XBox it really isn't possible because it does take some processing power to handle and certain emulators like NeoGenesis are already maxed out on resources to the point that you really can't play a whole lot of games when testing stuff before having to restart the system.
This might be an issue when trying to do this on a Pi Zero or a Pi B, but I would think that a Pi 3 wouldn't have any problems with it. Maybe it would be cool to also add an ability to switch this feature on or off just in case somebody is using a Pi Zero and it's too much for it to handle.
-
Maybe this already exists (and if it does, please guide me on how to use it!), but I think it would be sweet to be able to map bash scripts to button presses in the ES menu. This could be used in a multitude of ways, perhaps some better than others.
An example of the script I would use this with is to control music playback in the ES menu. I'd like a way to be able to change song rapidly, without having to log on my pi with ssh and doing this from another computer. I already have a script that changes the song at random
pkill mpg123; mpg123 -Z Music/*
It would be even better if there was a way to input some text to ES in a way that could let it display the song name on the screen, though that's a completely different topic.
Let me think what you think of the idea, its strengths and weaknesses. Thanks!
-
- Add the latest MAME versions (compiling takes a long time, and is a pain for heating issues)
- Add RetroFE as optional front-end
