Hi, I've searched and searched but can only seem to scrape my psx games manually for them to work. I've tried sselphs scraper and also tried the retropie main scraper automatically. The retropie scraper seems to find the box art for the games but when going back there's nothing there. If I manually change each games meta data and scrape and save, it works. All of my psx rooms are in their own folder and have .bin and .cue files. Ie, Batman Forever - the arcade game, and in that are a bin and cue file. Some games have a few different .bin files that have different 'track' names. Is there something I'm doing wrong with the automatic scraper or am I just going to have to manually scrape 1500 roms :) thanks.. Oh and I'm new to this but have quite a bit of technical knowledge so I do apologise if this sounds a bit daft lol!

I am no expert either, but i remember i made life easier for the built-in scraper by having my roms filename as exact as possible to the title name. For exemple, if you have the game "Destruction Derby 2" and your files are named "dd2.bin" and "dd2.cue", chances are that the scraper won't find "dd2" in its database and return nothing. If on the other hand you rename your files "Destruction Derby 2.bin" and "Destruction Derby 2.cue" it will have a better chance finding it. I'm not sure how well it deals with joined words or numbers in the filename, though.

It's better to find your roms files well named from the start (to save yourself the trouble of renaming your entire collection)

I'll use this thread to ask a different question on the same topic.

What's the best source for scraping NTSC PSX images. sselph scraper always scrapes PAL images for me. If I used Skyscraper, what database should I point it to for NTSC images?

@aphex the games I have are all named correctly as such but I've just noticed that when you click on a game it takes you into another screen before actually starting the game. When I press down on the joypad, the box art and info comes up.. So it has kinda worked but not the way I want it to.. Are your games in their own separate folders in the main psx folder or have you dragged all the bin and cues directly into the psx folder itself
            ?

Have you tried using Universal XML Scraper V2 to see if that makes any difference? I cannot remember if I've previously used it to scrape PSX roms but it's been great for most of the common systems. ETAPrime's channel on Youtube has a tutorial if you want to see first hand how to use it.

Also, you can always manually replace the image (screenshot/cover) to a better quality one or of your choosing if you know your way around a photo editing software like photoshop once you've completed a scrape. Edit the update image file and name it to the exact one it has scrapped and replace it the folder.

@batman excellent thanks I'll give that a go.. I've just unloaded all the bin and cues files out of each folder and am currently scraping from the retropie main scraper as it seemed to work on a few. I eventually want to get the video clips as well tho so I'll have a play about. Great thing is that I've just copied the images and game. Xml out of my nes folder on the sd card and transferred it to my hdd piroms nes folder, deleted the original and it still works so it means I can hopefully do the same for my psx games as I think I'd run out of space on the sd card otherwise.. Thanks for your input :)

so after i searched all the .bin/.cue files in file explorer for my playstation games, i simply put them directly into the psx folder itself (rather than being in their own individual game folders), i ran sselphs scraper one more time,, low and behold its worked!! i now have an awesome collection of psx boxart and video snaps for each game! solved for me! thanks guys..

Glad you got it as you wished :) Here i've just tried Universal XML Scraper V2, it's indeed quite powerful as it allows you different layouts like screenshot + box art + large title or arcade cabinet layouts (with very few unknowns or failures).
