[Amiga] Amiberry + WHDLoad = Holy Grail - Amiberry's official thread
-
@moonston333 I believe the config maker is obsolete now. UAE files are not games they are just the config files that can be used to start games. LHA files are packages like zip or rar files. The ones used by Amiberry are complete games that include the whdloader files which makes it possible to combine multi disk games, have bugfixes and trainers sometimes. The original purpose was to add the ability to install games on hard drives that were not supposed to be installed.
As far as I know you can launch LHA games directly because Amiberry provides config files for most of them. You still need UAE files if your games are ADF files. Those are just disk images, like ISO is an image of a CD/DVD. -
@ectoone hi thanks for reply. I dont know how but its working all og a sudden. I just transfered my old amiga bioses to mu pie via the \retropie command in windows. Went to load a game that didnt work before and it loaded. So do I need to un install auto amiga and uae maker from retropie list or not.
-
@moonston333 You probably can. I believe the auto amiga script was used to create default folders and such things. The uae maker was used to create uae files for adf files with predefined settings to make things easier. If you still have all your files from a backup, you should be fine.

@dudleydes thank you for helping! Amiberry exists but running the second command says no file/ directory. It is showing rpi1-sdl1 but not rpi2-sdl1.
Shall I clone and make for rpi2?
cd ~
git clone https://github.com/midwan/amiberry
cd amiberry
make all PLATFORM=rpi2 ???If I run Amiberry from command line I get the illegal instruction.
Many thanks
-
@icecool Can you confirm that the Amiberry binary you have on your system is
amiberry-rpi1-sdl1
? This would explain why you are getting the Illegal instruction message - you are trying to run an binary built for a Pi 1 on a Pi 2.You should install Amiberry using the setup script. If it's not available in the optional packages, then update the setup script and try again. This will make sure that the correct binary is built for your Pi. @dudleydes hi yes I believe it is, thank you 😁
-
-
@ectoone yep got all files games and uae file on external hard drive and in zip file. And all seems to be working fine think I'll just leave auto install on the list just in case it messes up if I delete it thanks for ur guidance
-
@dudleydes Yes it's possible for controllers, but last time I checked, iPac/keyboard controllers were NOT supported. Can anyone confirm if this is possible now?
-
@andershp You may find the following page useful: https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/wiki/Setting-up-Keyboard-Controllers.
It may be an idea to search the Amiberry issues, opening a new ticket if you have no joy.

@nemo93 I have added a section for Amiberry in the Docs: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Amiga/
I have placed Amiberry at the top of the list of emulators as it's probably the most straightforward to set up and use. Let me know what you think.

Thanks! It needed an update.

I am a gargantuan newbie when it comes to pi3 and amiberry. After hours upon hours I have managed to install amiberry on my pi3.
Games are running but my main issue is that I am trying to make it run via gamepad only, at the moment F12 quits but I want 'Select+Start' to quit.
I know this has been covered about a million times but I am just not getting how to edit the controller settings for amiberry. Any advice would be greatly received.

@dalek2000 Try installing Amiberry from source. There is a bug in the binary install that breaks the joystick auto-configuration.

If I try to install amiberry from source I get the following error message:
'Could not successfully build amniberry - Amiga emulator with JIT support (forked from uae4arm) (/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/amiberry/amiberry not found).'
It can only install from binary.
-
@dalek2000 Can you try updating the RetroPie setup script and then install Amiberry from source? If this doesn't work, then can you try uninstalling Amiberry and then installing from source?
If neither of these work, then I suggest opening a new topic, providing all of the information requested here.
Please also include the build log from when you attempted to build Amiberry from source. The log can be found inside a gzip file in
/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/logs
which you should be able to access using STFP/WinSCP. You should post the log at a site like pastebin.com.The binary install should shortly be updated to v2.21 that fixes the bug so you can wait until this happens if you prefer.
-
@dudleydes I updated RetroPie-Setup script, then updated amiberry from source.
Now Select+Start exits the game which is exactly what I wanted. Thank you very much for all your help.

Is there any way I can assign mouse buttons to my controller?
A lot of games can't start because I don't have a mouse plugged in. I think some require either a left or right mouse click.

@dalek2000 Which game are you having trouble with? Could you give the file name so I can test?

Pang on the Amiga, comes up with a load of scrolling text and some music, I don't know how to skip the intro and start the game.
