SCUMMVM HELP!

ScummVM is the emulator I want most to work but it's not showing up on the main menu.
I have it installed from the retropie setup area. (Installed) is right there next to both scummvm emulators. I really want to play the old Hugo's House of Horrors games like I did on the ScummVM emulator on my PC many years ago.

That emulator allowed me to just find the game on my computer, but since I stuck the Hugo folder in the ScummVM folder, and it's just a folder called Hugo, filled with many miscellaneous files, including the hhh.exe file to start the game, ScummVM on Retropie isn't picking it up and thus the emulator itself is not showing up on the emulator menu.

I've looked through a bunch of youtube videos and looked at reddits and the only thing I could find was that people are saying it likes ScummVM games that end in .svm. There isn't a file in the Hugo folder ending in .svm. How do I get my game to have that? If anyone has ScummVM working, how are your roms setup in the folder? Is there a sub folder that I need to create first? Help me through it, please. I'll be very grateful.

After installing ScummVM from the setup menu, it should appear in EmulationStation with one "game" (something like: +Start ScummVM GUI) to start the standard ScummVM GUI. Using that, you can add games the same way it works on the PC version. Adding a game to the GUI should then create a svm file for that game in the scummvm rom folder which will appear in EmulationStation and can be used to directly start games without starting the GUI first.

I chose to try re-installing the ScummVM regular emulator again. This time I selected install from source instead of binary....

......this installing process has been taking a half hour so far and is still going!! Is that normal? IT’s just going and going and going

Ok well that took a helluva long time but it finished. Then I went to reboot system, and it restarted emulationstation.....

ScummVM is still not showing up on main menu :(
Do I need to add some roms to the folder first?

For ANY emulator: if you don't add any ROMs to the proper folder then it will not show up in the EmulationStation menu. So try to add a game in the ScummVM folder and restart EmulationStation.

I did put the roms in. Nothing.

I’m just sticking in folders that are filled with all the files of the games. Do they need to be zipped? Should there be another folder in the scummvm folder? Maybe I should take a screenshot.

@dogeymon It looks like te ScummVM is a bit different from the other ones and games need to be added from within ScummVM - as @EctoOne suggested.
What version of RetroPie are you using and on what system ?

I’m on 4.3 now. I updated. And what system? What do you mean. It’s on raspberry pi 3. And I know what folder to put roms in. The scummvm folder. I wouldn’t put them anywhere else. I’m just wondering if these are supposed to be single rom files or if they can be how I have them which is all scattered game files in a folder named after the game.

@dogeymon You have to start the emulator and add the games before they appear in the menu. You only need to do this once.

I can’t start the emulator because it doesn’t even show up on the menu.

I’m sorry that page doesn’t help. That tells me where to put roms. I put the roms where it says.

Can someone just take a screenshot of your scummvm folder on your card and your rom folders so I can see how you go them in there?

I put the roms where it says too. I just wanna know what people’s roms look like cuz maybe mine aren’t in the right format or aren’t placed in there right.

@dogeymon You just take the iso (cd image) of a game and ensure that it is fully unzipped into a folder named with whatever game it is. One folder per game. You then launch.

So create a folder in this location...

/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/scummvm

e.g. The Secret of Monkey Island. Place the game files in it.

@dogeymon So in my folder named The Secret of Monkey Island, I have 24 .fla audio files. Two files named MONKEY.000 and MONKEY.001 -the game data. Then MT32_CONTROL.ROM and MT_32PCM.ROM for audio stuff.

@dogeymon So when you launch the ScummVM GUI, nothing starts? If ScummVM isn't showing in the menu, it probably isn't installed. Did you follow the correct installation procedure? When you start the GUI, you then add the game files. Then, the next time you reboot, the games are showing in Emulationstation and in the GUI.
