According to the compatibility lists (and posts by others), FBA should be able to handle the Knights of Valour series. Unfortunately, I can't get them to work on my Pi 3, updated to current as of 30-Sep-17.

I've tried MAME 0.184 ROMs and FBA 02.97.40 ROMs updated (perhaps incorrectly by me) to 02.97.42 using clrmamepro.

I've seen it mentioned that these games need a separate BIOS. Now, I have Knights of Valour running on MAME w/o audio, so I assumed that the BIOS was available to both MAME and FBA. Is that not the case?

      1. Do these games need a BIOS which isn't part of the standard Retropie install/update process for the FBA package? That is, do I need to seek out the BIOS separately and manually insert it into the BIOS/fba folder?

      2. Are the ROMsets I'm using for this incorrect? As in, MAME 0.184 doesn't work with FBA ...42 and I may have incorrectly converted the ROMs from 40 -> 42?

      Uh... help? Thanks.

@meanliar you will need the Polygon Master BIOS which is not included with the Retropie Package as far as i know.

Cant speak for FBA, i use AdvanceMame and can confirm: Kov and Kov plus are working perfect in general, so FBA should work too with the right Romsets and BIOS

no. you need to have a valid bios in the rom directory you're running the game from. the bios is part of the romset, so you could only 'share' it between mame/fba if you're running mame/fba from the same folder /arcade/ ? AND they somehow use the same romset.

yes. it's part of the romset. retropie doens't come with any BIOSs. they're as illegal as roms.

i don't know... latest retropie uses 0.2.97.42. i can't tell you if your conversion via clrmamepro worked - clrmamepro would have, though.

Yep, the missing bit for me was the PGM.zip (Polygon Masters BIOS) needed to be in the ROMs/fba folder, not anywhere else. I'm up and running with lr-fbalpha (FB Alpha 02.97.42).

So, for those searching this topic, Knights of Valour (and most of its derivatives) seem to work with:

            MAME 0.184 ROMs
            pgm.zip (Polygon Masters BIOS)

            ...all in the ROMs/fba folder.

No need to seek out a FBA 02.97.42 ROMset.

Hi.. a little help pls. I hv placed some KOV 0.184 rom and pgm bios in the fba/rom folder. But it still won't start. I am running fba v0.2.97.42.
@meanliar Do u need to install & select any other fba/mame versions?
              Thanks in advance.
