Just wondering if anyone has done something similar to this using a USB hub or something similar in to the pi so when the pi turns on you could turn on your marquee or other lights etc?

I was thinking of doing this with a powerblock where when the pi turns on because the powered USB hub is plugged in to the pi it activates a couple of relays..
