DosBox gaming in retropie--Getting my 1995 cd Dos game to work in it?
-
I bet there won't be anything in d drive. There is nothing mounted to it by default and I doubt that joel would have edited base DosBox config file... that's not the case.
@joeljoel1947 well, you just found the problem yourself, it's in the last screenshot you posted.
DOSBox started, you are in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pc/
You changed directory to /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pc/OLDTIME/
You ran "dir" command to see what is in there - and there is nothing but another OLDTIME directory. If you copied the game with iso, it will be there.. somewhere. And I would bet anything it will be in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pc/OLDTIME/OLDTIME/ -
@mitu no, nothing was in the d drive
@spiky ok, so here is where I am at now. I realized that I had one extra OLDTIME folder that everything was sitting in in retropie. So I eliminated the extra folder and tried to launch the game both by clicking the runme.sh file I have in 2 different places for fun---one inside the OLDTIME folder and one outside of it. In either case, when I click runme.sh inside or outside of the game folder, I now get a new error:
So as to where all my OLDTIME files actually are, you can see here in the file explorer a few different things. The OLDTIME game sits in /home/pi/retropie/roms/pc There is a oldtime iso and a runme.sh file that sit BOTH inside the game and outside the game---those two you can see below.
Looking at this next pic you can see both the OLDTIME iso and runme.sh files (along with all the other files and folders for the game) rest in the folder /home/pi/retropie/roms/pc/oldtime
So, all that said, we have to be getting close? What do you see that is wrong with what I have going on here that is different then your end? Thanks again for all the help BTW! This has been an epic journey!!

Oh and also in the 1st pic, it really isn't an "error" per se, it's just that the game does not launch. At that next z prompt, I tried typing runme for fun, and that got me an error. Maybe I simply need to do something at that z prompt now to launch it?

@Spiky did I lose ya? ;)
Worked on it some more. I "feel" that the image is now at least mounted to the D drive. See below, the files are in d.
From there all I can see to do is INSTALL.exe and doing that yields the game installing, however whatever drive I pick (D:, C:, Z:) it says "Cannot access this drive".
Any thoughts?? Thanks!!

@joeljoel1947 I am afraid I cannot help you. If I had access to your Pi I would configure it within 2 minutes, but unfortunately I don't. I recommend you to study how DosBox works and also think about what needs to be done. If you dont understand what you are doing it simply cannot work.

@spiky
Well thanks for trying anyhow! I have it working on dosbox on my laptop, no issue what so ever. Must be some config in my Pi's dosbox that won't allow it to work. Will need to continue research, thanks!
