To all crt-pi shader users (artifacts appearing during motion)
-
Am I the only one noticing vertical stripes when there is horizontal motion going on?
You can easily test it for yourself with Donkey Kong Country in the first level. The vertical stripes appear in the brown ground area Donkey Kong is walking on. It's faint, but definitely noticable. I tried capturing it in a video, but that didn't work out.I uploaded the shader I am using:
https://ufile.io/srzoy
This shader also simulates scanlines, but with no such artifacts. By default the scanlines are a bit less noticable than the crt-pi shader, but you can change this in the shader parameters menu.
The file is only hosted one month, so maybe someone has a more permanent way to keep it accessible for users?
I would give credits if I knew who made the shader, but I don't know who did. All I know is I downloaded it a year ago for my Nes classic mini and now it works great for my Pi 3B as well.P.S. The settings I use for this shader:
Quick menu -> shaders
shader filter: don't care
shader scale: don't care
(Sometimes shader filter: linear in combination with shader scale: x2)Quick menu -> shaders -> menu shader parameters
Scanline thickness: 2.0
Scanline intensity: 0.41 (if I want very obvious scanlines then I bump it up to 0.70 (looks great on Metal slug for example)
Luminance boost: 0.07Settings -> Video
Aspect ratio: Custom
Integer scale: On
Bilinear filtering: On -
@bobharris what resolution are you running?
-
@dankcushions
N64 on a lower resolution, but all other emulators default resolution. Is that causing it? -
@bobharris i'd have to test it myself. it could be a similar issue to https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/4046/crt-pi-shader-users-reduce-scaling-artifacts-with-these-configs-in-lr-mame2003-lr-fbalpha-lr-nestopia-and-more-to-come
-
@dankcushions Yes I think that is what it looks like. But it's much easier to see in motion.
It's not related to the resolution (I tried several).
