Do these N64 games run well on my raspberry pi 3?
-
Hi, I'm deciding on getting a couple of roms for the Nintendo 64 on my raspberry pi 3, retropie 4.3.
But I've heard lots of people are complaining that raspberry pi 3 doesn't run N64 that well. I'm just wondering if these 2 games run well on raspberry pi 3 retropie 4.3:(Most Importantly) Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time
Super Mario 64Oh! And I'm also wondering, does n64 support cheats? Could I type a few in my terminal and have them work?
Thanks! -
@ben-almonte Why don't you just try them?

@ben-almonte Both of those work pretty well with the lr-mupen64plus emulator which does allow for the use of cheats, but I can't confirm that the cheats work.
That being said, mupen64plus-GLideN64 tends to work better overall. It does not allow for cheats and, AFAIK, you can't use saves between the emulators. mupen64plus with GLide tends to work well for me but, as you may know, it is still being developed so with updates you may lose the ability to continue with your saves and some bizarre things like that. If 64 emulation is your main goal, I would consider using a PC above the Pi. If you're just looking to play every now and then, I think the Pi does the job.

I do not know about Zelda or about cheats but I have been using Super Mario 64 on my Pi with Mupen64plus-GlideN64 emulator and it runs fairly well.
I will say to make sure you have a powerful enough power supply. I was previously using a power supply below the recommended threshold and, while everything worked, I noticed games from systems like N64 and Playstation did not work so great. Then I started using a recommended power supply and I noticed that these games (such as Mario64) are working much better.
