I am having issues with loading ROMs for the N64. Here is the behavior that I am seeing:

Select ROM, screen return to ROM list

I can open the errors logged in /dev/shm/runcommand.log. The output is below:

Core Error: open_rom(): not a valid ROM image
UI-Console Error: core failed to open ROM image file '/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64/Super Smash Bros. WORKING (U) [!].z64'.

      Some information on the system:

      Raspberry Pi 3
Power Supply is the official Raspberry Pi PSU
      RetroPie Version: 4.3.7
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      Controller used: 8bitdo and Keyboard

The file that is failing is the following: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64/Super Smash Bros. WORKING (U) [!].z64

I have tried this with every emulator installed on the system currently. I am mostly trying to use the mupen64plus-gles2n64 as this is listed on the compatibility list.

I downloaded an emulator on my PC, and was able to successfully run the .z64 file.

      Any help would be appreciated!!

      Thanks!

@grepusername said in N64 Roms Not Working -:

Core Error: open_rom(): not a valid ROM image

Try a different file format. .n64 for example, are readily available.

@jonnykesh I'll give it a shot with some .n64 files. I'll reply back here once I get a shot to try.

          Thanks!
