No sample sounds in mame-libretro after update
-
I just ran the full system update on my retropie build, and now none of my games that use the Samples sounds are working. For example, the girder sounds are gone in Donkey Kong, and Mario's shoes don't squeak when he runs. All the other normal sounds are working fine.
The samples folder is still where it always was (/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/mame2003/samples)
This is still set:
mame2003-samples = "enabled"In the /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg file
I'm out of ideas trying to figure out why just the samples don't work after the update. Is the latest mame-libretro broken? Did they change the path for where the samples need to go?
Thanks!

@chupacabras it would help to know what you mean by “the update”. Obviously, you ran an update, but future readers will have no idea what versions of anything caused your trouble. In fact, I have an idea what might have happened with your samples, but it depends on how you setup RetroPie in the first place (and when). Please share all of the details. What version were you running? How was it installed?
My thought is that your samples are in the wrong folder. The samples folder changed in lr-mame2003 at one point. It was a while back, but if you had installed RetroPie back then and got them working, an update today would be looking for samples in a different folder. You see how more detail might help?

well, with donkey kong, i guess the sample files changed recently: https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-libretro/pull/218
what to, who knows. not documented anywhere.

@dankcushions can't say I'm overly fond of Willy nilly backporting...

@herb_fargus I'm going to roll back our mame2003 and may add the current under another name. A frankenmame like this should be done as a separate core imho.
Perhaps we can encourage retroarch to split it?
