Cheat Advmame
-
it's Arcade that I use and not advmame, I have an Arcade folder which are the classic arcade roms and I would like to activate the cheats on Arcade
-
@cyclair Your post is titled Cheat Advmame - hence the response from @mediamogul. The
arcade
folder is a generic one for arcade games, so which emulator are you using to play your games and would like to have cheats on ? -

'Arcade' isn't an emulator, it's a system listing in Emulation Station for multiple arcade emulators. The title of this thread is 'Cheat Advmame', so I've been advising you to that end. Why don't we start over and you fill out all the required information at https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
-
indeed I was wrong in the title.
So is it possible to activate the cheat of the roms in the folder "arcade"?
-
@cyclair The cheats being available are not is not determined by the folder, but by the emulator you use. Please give more details about your system and emulator - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
-
@cyclair
It's entirely possible, but as @mitu notes above, we need to have more information. Specifically, we need to know what emulator you're running, as the method is slightly different throughout. The emulator can be viewed on the grey window that appears as a game launches. You can also press a button at that point and examine what emulator options are available.

OK, you're using lr-mame2003. The cheat file is apparently added automatically, so all you'll need to do is enable cheats in the core options from the RetroArch menu. This can also be done externally from a text editor as noted here.

Yep, RetroPie-Setup copies the
cheats.dat
into the system folder when mame2003 is installed. As opposed tohiscore.dat
which is now built into the core itself so no external file is required. -

Hey, that got merged, nice!

Thanks, I would incorporate the cheats file too but it's quite a bit larger.
-
Well, the more important of the two got in. Mame2003 has really seen some great improvements thanks to you guys. It's much appreciated. When the dust settles a bit I plan on putting together a 2003plus set as well.
-
mame2003 is of course enabled, but I can not access with tab does not work.
retroarch-core-options.cfg
/opt/retropie/configs/all/
L'option est:mame2003-cheats = "enabled"
How to do?

How to do?After launching a game in lr-mame2003, invoke the RetroArch menu by pressing 'hotkey+x'. From there, navigate down to and select 'Options' and you should see the the option to enable cheats there.
-
Thank you for your reply.
But no there is no cheat option to activate via retroarch ...
-
I think cheats are actually 'always on' as a core option now in mame2003. You do still need the cheats.dat in the right place.
When you're using mame2003 and press the tab button, is one of the menu options called Cheats?
-
I found this to be most useful, you have to turn on advanced settings in retroarch to download cheats, although that’s more for all other systems, and the cheats are then found in the lr-mame2003 menu rather than retroarch. Forgot to add, the addition to /opt/retropie/configs/all/ adding the line; mame2003-cheats = "enabled" did it for me
-
This has already been done. The cheat.dat file is in the right place, everything is activated but it does not appear in retroarch by making hotkey + X. There is no cheat except for consoles, but it's the arcade that I want to activate.
