Is there a gamelist.xml preferred media paths format?
-
So I've been trying to learn how to create/update/etc. the gamelist.xml to add images, marquees, and video. I've been reading previous threads/links about this.
My question is, what is the preferred media folder structure for images, video, etc in gamelist.xml?
Looking at various system rom folders, I see folders like:
snap (for video previews)
wheel (for marquee images)(I have .mp4 video previews in snap and marquee images in wheel from previous install.)
But when I run Sselphs Scraper, it generates an images folder in each rom (set) folder, and adds image files ending in -image.jpg for default images ("boxart"?), -marquee.png for marquees, and -video.mp4 for video previews to that folder. The scraper isn't using the previous snap/wheel/etc folders.
Is there a preferred media folder structure for Emulationstation? Is it a single images folder, or separated folders for each media type, or...? I realize it can be whatever structure I want (and I assume I can use the command line to make Sselphs Scraper format it how I want), but after I regex the hell out of gamelist.xml in Sublime Text to clean it up and point to the correct media locations, I wanted to know what is the most "common" structure going forward so I don't have to manually edit each new scraped rom, etc.
Appreciate any help/info on this.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter too much. You can just leave it in the folder structure that your preferred scraper creates, or change it entirely. As long as gamelist.xml points to the correct location, use whatever strikes your fancy.
The exception to this is that runcommand prefers there to be an images folder inside each system if it is going to use individual rom launching pictures. I don't know if there is a way to change that default location.
