Lr-px68K and Sharp X68000 and joystick issues
-
Hi. There's a known problem on the Raspberry Pi 3B (first reported back in September or October 2017 on this forum, I think) with lr-px68k which is one of the experimental libretro cores. For the joysticks to work, every time you start a rom you need to go into Retroarch, go to User 1 and User 2, and change them from RetroPad to Retrokeyboard and back again. The joysticks will then work properly "in game".
I haven't fully updated Retropie (and therefore Retroarch) for some months (see my signature), but I was just wondering whether anyone has lr-px68k working well. Obviously, being an experimental core, it's unlikely to work perfectly (if at all). However, I ask because when I first installed this core in January 2018 I did manage to have it working perfectly without any controller issues, but some months later the controller issue has developed and I can't seem to resolve it. Reinstalling this core from scratch (which I've done several times during the past couple of days) and even manually compiling earlier versions of the core and of other forks doesn't seem to resolve the issue.
Thanks.

@spud11 Maybe the problem is in RetroArch, which handles the front-end tasks like video/input, and not in the libretro core itself. What version of RA are you using ?

@mitu I'm not in front of the Rpi at present, but recollection is that it is 1.4.0 or something ie pretty low. And you may very well be right - the problem could be with RetroArch.
I was hoping to avoid bringing RetroArch up to date as that would involve a complete update to Retropie (I think). I've got quite a few manual systems installed, plus I was hoping to avoid updating Final Burn Alpha if I could. I'm just wondering whether someone might have the latest you-beaut Retropie 4.4 with the latest version of RetroArch with a completely working lr-px68k. If so, I might just risk a full update and do it and hope for the best with respect to my other systems.

@mitu You were correct, thanks. Updating Retropie (and RetroArch) worked. Lr-px68k works as it should.
I'm busy copying across various manually installed emulators and then I'll turn to the Final Burn Alpha romset.....
