Amiberry : some help needed for config files
-
Hello,
I have recently installed Amiberry on my pi3. Such a great software.
I was an happy amiga owner when I was kid, and I know since years that amiga emulation was "difficult", but with the amiberry and whdload, it's just a "click&play" experience, which was great!I have correctly installed everything (I hope), and put some whdload file in /roms/amiga (in lha format), and the kickstart files in /bios.
I can launch many games, but I need some help with config files, because when I launch a game, my pad is not recognized. My keyboard is OK, but no gamepad.I press F12 during game, and correctly map the gamepad, then it creates an .uae config file.
Good, but how to perfom the same for all games ?
I read many forum threads, and I know I must do something with UaeConfigMaker, use templates and so on, but I must admit I'm lost at this point.
I have correctly installed UaeConfigMaker. Some help for the next steps would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. -
Try this thread starting from that post I link to, it seems you make similar mistake using outdated info (there's no need for UAEconfig anymore): https://retropie.org.uk/forum/post/146769
Later on people ask for help with gamepads as well.If you're still lost, post in that thread and somebody will likely help you.

@cacrlhungus74 This recent post seems to have the same issue as you and it was fixed by installing by source.
I believe the UaeConfigMaker is no longer required as this is done in a different way. More info: https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/wiki/WHDLoad-Auto-booting#game-specific-settings-improving-game-compatibility.

Thanks for you replies. I will install from source to get the latest version, and will try the new way (without uae file)

hello again,
I restart installation of amiberry, and this time the controller is correctly detected (using the retroarch controller map).
So, in the "Input panel" of the gui, there is my controller (8bitdo NES30 GamePad) on the Port 1 (Joystick line).
Perfect for this.
But, unfortunately, lots of amiga games need a key to start (F1 mainly), so in Custom Controls panel of the gui, I choose "Hotkey" as function key, and I have mapped the F1 key to L.Shoulder.
I start the game, and press "Select+L.Shoulder" and its working ! Great...
But if I quit the game and launch another game, this "hotkey setting" seems lost.
I saw in the wiki the following line :
You can also set game-specific control customisations, e.g. mapping individual keyboard keys to controller buttons. More information for this can be found on the Custom Controls page.It says "game-specific", so I think this "custom controls"setting needs to be done for each game.. Strange, but why not.
Problem is, if I go back to the first game (the one which I already perform this custom control setting), the hotkey setting is also gone.It seems my action on the gui are not saved. Perhaps I miss something ?

@cacrlhungus74 This is old and maybe you already resolved, but i found saving config file under Amiberry you could also save game-specific controller mapping.
Althought i can only achieved mapping some keyboards commands (like F1) on controller shoulder buttons, which seems reasonable considered frontal buttons are needed for Cd32 games.
