[Solved] Sega saturn CD+G CHANNEL & Music doesn't work
-
@jonnykesh I have tried this BIOS, and it haven't changed nothing, it doesn't work (I've renamed to "saturn_bios.bin").
So it isn't for the BIOS. -
@boltio3 Well, that's not to say you weren't having 2 (or more problems).
The correct BIOS is the one that I obtained and checked the hash sum of. As I said this is the one you need according to the docs.
What format are your games iniso
,bin/cue
?
Have you successfully launched any Saturn games? Your OP is a bit unclear.
Why are you so sure the ROM files aren't the problem? -
@jonnykesh I have like 30 (1 for each rom) folders and every folder have some .mp3, one .iso file and one .cue file. (Other ones have .wav files and .srm files, but always there is one .iso and one .cue)
So i have this folders in the folder "saturn" that it is for the ROMS, and when i select one rom from this list, it doesn't start the game at that point, it takes to me to another list of roms but there only appear the rom that i selected before and then I open that rom and it starts the game, but then it goes to that Saturn menu where it saids "Set CD+G Channel" and the other options that you know.
Well.. give me a second and I'll upload some photos about that. And well, i'm not so sure about the ROM files aren't the problem, maybe there are, but i just have the feeling that they aren't the problem.
Anyway I'll try to find other ROM's and see what happends.

@jonnykesh And don't you thing that maybe i need a RAM cartridge or something like this?
-
@boltio3 Not sure. Can you please upload the pictures directly to the forum and not to a TP site.
-
@jonnykesh It's gyazo.com, but ok, i'll do that.
-
@boltio3 Here's an article about the RAM cart, https://segaretro.org/Extended_RAM_Cartridge
-
This post is deleted! -
@boltio3 I know what it is and most people don't like being directed to TP sites in order to provide assistance. All the relevant info should be posted directly.
It also means if someone searches the forum at a later date with a similar issue then all the info is available. -
-
@jonnykesh I did a fast read to https://segaretro.org/Extended_RAM_Cartridge, and for what i understanded, only the games that appears there need a RAM cartridge, so the Sonic R should work, but it doesn't.
-
@boltio3 Sorry but those screenshots tell me absolutely nothing.
I have never set up the Saturn in the 2 plus years I have been using RetroPie and was able to get a game running while we had this conversation.
The game I got to run wasShinobi X
just as a test.
It came as a single.bin
file and a single.cue
file. I did not put this in a separate folder. Both files were just placed in theROMs
>saturn
directory. I had to adjust the contents and name of the.cue
file to match the name of the.bin
file. Linux is case sensitive so that is always something that catches Windows users out.I appreciate you are a novice to this but you need to give relevant info if you want help. Pictures of a TV screen are next to useless.
Find a game that comes as a singlebin/cue
and post the names of each file along with the contents of thecue
file and I will have a look. -
@jonnykesh Ok, I'll search for that bin/cue files.
But i have found this during the conversation.
This 2 files are from a .zip, i can convert them to .bin or .cue, or something? Or maybe i just have to focus to find that ones with bin/cue?Edit: I have just tried the .zip with this 2 files (.mds and .mdf) and it happends the same to other ones that have (.iso, .cue, .mp3, etc)
-
@jonnykesh What version of Shinobi X have you used? (Japan, europe or USA)
-
@boltio3 It was the
(E)
so European one. -
@jonnykesh
Ok, i have this, what should i do? -
@boltio3 Wow, i put that ".bin's" files and the .cue file to a .zip file, and then i put it in the Saturn roms folder and it works!
But the music doesn't... I don't know why. (The SFX works, every time I jump for example it makes the sound) -
@boltio3 Post the contents of the
cue
file.
Do you have any otherSonic R
files?
The in-game music may well be thewav
files. -
