      Greetings,

I installed Retropie on my fourth system. Up until now the process has been fairly smooth. On this newest pi board and install... for some reason my NES Final Fantasy 1 save games (saving from Inn within game, not with hot keys) is not taking. If it does take.. it takes for 1 save then the rest won't save. I googled and started trying things:

      • Reset home permissions in Retropie Config
      • chmod pi:pi on /usr/share/
      • validated lots of disk space (32% of sd card used).
      • removed board from case (had a reset/power supply NES case) in "case" (tee hee) that was causing an issue.

It seems to work once then 2nd save fails. Finally after a few attempts in a row to test... I lost my save game all together. (grrrr). I finally gave up and went to a previous SD card I had burnt about 6 months back that I know worked. (e.g. burnt 3 copies, all worked fine, saved this 1 copy as my "gold standard"). Loaded FF1 onto it with a new USB stick, then started up and re-ran my test...

      • create new game
      • go to inn
      • save
*select-start to back out of game
      • restart retropie via unplugging and plugging in USB Power.

After doing this test... I don't have a save game and have to restart the process.

In reading these docs it seems that the roms are saved in /home/pi/Retropie/roms/nes folder... so not sure why one post said to chmod on /usr/share/. When I checked the folders... the .nes game file was owned by Root... but the save was owned by pi.

Anyone encountered something similar with in-game saves? Just not sure how to go about troubleshooting this.

Worth mentioning I haven't done any reconfig of the retropie image other than installing my game and a USB controller. Everything else should be stock.

      Thanks,
      Robin

@robin76 How about starting with https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first ? Please give the answers for the questions on that page, especially the RP version and what emulator are you using to run the ROM.
Files in the ROM folders should never be owned by root, how did you transfer your ROMs ?
