@cynital The command writes the system log to the /tmp/dmesg.txt file, which you should upload to pastebin.com and provide the link.

@cynital You need to open the file and get its contents, it's a text file - you cannot execute it (that's the permission denies error).
Transfer the file to your PC - how did you transfer your ROMs over to the PI ?

@cynital You'll need a browser to upload the file, so yes, use a PC. Transfer the file with SCP, or if you're using File Shares, copy the file to the ROMs folder and get it from the roms file share:

                  cp /tmp/dmesg /home/pi/RetroPie/roms

@cynital How did you install RetroPie ? Did you use the image provided on the RetroPie website or other image ? Have you installed anything else on it ?
If you're not familiar with RetroPie or Linux, I'd suggest to start with a known good system - use the official image and install it from scratch. After that, update RetroPie and all packages and re-try to add your controller.

@cynital If you installed the official image, I guess it's ok to keep it like this, but unless you're able to provide some logs/diagnostic info, I'm afraid I can't help you.

@cynital OK let's try again. To get the system log

                                    dmesg > /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/dmesg.txt

Look in the roms folder via the file share on the PC and the dmesg.txt file should be there. Upload it to pastebin.com.

@cynital OK, let's give it another shot. Reboot, plug in your controller and try to see if it work. Obviously, it won't work - as you reported. Exit Emulationstation, then execute the following command at the terminal

                                            dmesg | nc termbin.com 9999

The command will automatically upload the log and will print an URL. Copy that URl and paste it here.
