New Hypseus and lr-Daphne to add on Retropie-Setup
-
@pjft Like you I,m a great fan of Road Blaster and other laserdisc games. Some of them I have the psx versions of LD games, but as you said: the video quality is poor. The LD arcade game versions are the better versions because the audio and video dont suffer with compressions... I would love to play games like Road Blaster, Badlands and American Laserdisc Games in retropie.
I'm praying for a succefull Daphne update on retropie.

heres my current 21 laserdisc games on my pi,
2 more games to be added (Mad Dog McCree 1 & 2)
making a total of 23 -

@stuart2773 Dear Stuart, I would like t know what you have done to run succefull games, like Badlands, Road Blaster and Time Gal on Daphne pi??? Theme games are out of Daphne pi compatibillity list. Your theme are very cool, I never saw he before.

Badlands, Begas Battle, Firefox, Ninja Hayate, Road Blaster, Time Gal, Time Traveler, do not work in the current version, i have the mv2 & ogg files ready for whenever they become playable. im trying to get a full set of laserdisc games.

I like that optimistic approach. It's a shame that Daphne hasn't seen any updates or fixes lately, but with any luck this libretro port could change that.

@stuart2773 Same for me, we have the same idea.

Yes not for the moment, and not too with the RA Daphne version. Because some one must port Daphne SINGE to Retroarch too. And with it it will be possible to make working all the games we want, there are only a SINGE script with M2v videos.
-
Well I have isolated the problem that is causing the pi to crash in not really familiar with libmpeg2 at the moment but managed to trace it. Ill need to look into why this code it triggering for arm.
if you want to run on the pi without freezes comment out
//g_out_info.status = STAT_ERROR;
I dont know if its a threads or condition issue ill take another look when im off work

thats the plan, but with all the recent romsites shutting down im trying to get as many of them before its too late, i noticed that you cant even get the non digital leisure games to download officially via the daphne loader.
however theres not many more laserdisc games im missing & need to locate that are known to be working in daphne/singe :-
Freedom Fighter
Goal to Go
Laser Grand Prix
Star Blazers (Yamato)
Star Rider -
@grant2258 Actually, a note for anyone who's also looking for RoadBlaster.
According to
https://github.com/libretro/daphne
it seems to suggest that RoadBlaster is working in the current libretro version, so if anyone is interested in in, might want to give it a go and see whether it's a misunderstanding.

@pjft I have discussed about Road Blaster compatibility months ago with others here in Retropie forum. To all players the situacion are the same in Daphne pi, black screen.
The compatibility list in Retropie github are a very accurate and you can see in following link:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Hy2VpPXgs4a9imeu0_w3SpehKEkhUNOLzD1jhcgwS3o/htmlview
-
the version @pjft is referring to is the new w.i.p lr-Daphne not the current version available on the pi.
-
How's the progress going? Would it be possible to add it to the experimental section soon?
-
@skj there is some problems still its up to the retropie staff if they want to add it to retropie when its ready
-
I'm waiting anxiously for this release, because arcade emulators to me, are one of the most significative goals on the emulation scene, preserve hidden gems out of common console game market. Collect original arcade itens are very dificult today. I have too many nostalgic moments linked with a arcade history and I love some laserdisc games. The LD games was the future of games 30 years ago.

@mediamogul @grant2258 @darknior Just came across this video on YouTube they have the lr-daphne core up and running
Can we get it added to the install packages on the Pi?
-
@skj It's the project when all will be done. I'm not sure all the bugs are now removed.

id love to see this in the experimental section - from watching that video they have games running that are not bootable in the current version of daphne (Badlands & Begas Battle).
I did try to install this manually following @grant2258 method, but got confused with the instructions. so that why i would like to see it hopefully in the experimental package section soon .

Did you try the new remastered versions of DL, DL2, SA ?
there was a sound issue with the Space Ace, i submitted a fix to the original author. -
DRAGON'S LAIR PROTOTYPE / DRAGON'S LAIR ENHANCEMENT ROM SET VERSION 2.1
How do you play the deleted cut scenes in the game (see videos below).
I checked http://www.dragons-lair-project.com/tech/dips/dle20.asp dipswitch settings and you need to enable Prototype B7=ON
but i cant access the dipswitch settings via daphne (which is F2 or 9)
anybody had any luck with this?
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
