Hi folks! First time posting on here and have a little request for help. Unfortunately my son killed my SD card a couple of weeks ago and i haven't been able to retrieve any data from it. I'd been overseeing my daughter playing through FFVII and we had got as far as disk 3. We were in the process of levelling up all our materias etc and had put quite a few hours into it as we wanted to 100% the game but now that the SD card is corrupt and after spending a lot of time trying to get files off it and asking for guidance on using Linux terminal commands on the Raspberry Pi stack exchange i think it's time to accept i'm not getting our save file back. So I'm now thinking i might try and find one online somewhere that might be somewhat similar to where we got to. If anyone could point me in the direction of save game files online i can use or if someone even has one themselves and wouldn't mind sharing i would be forever in your debt!

I'd already completed the game a few times when i was younger so i don't mind just skipping to disk 3 but i'd still like my daughter to be able to fight the weapons before going to defeat Sephiroth. She's so into the game so i have to make sure she gets to complete it!

      Thanks!

@crickentine This link looks promising. I've never gotten that far in the game, but take a look and see if any here work.

@lilbud that does look promising! I think there's one in there that is exactly what i'm after!

If you've never gotten that far you're in for a treat. In a way i envy you. I'd love to have my memory erased and play it from the start again!

OK so now for my next question: These save files are in the format "final-fantasy-vii.1827.gme". Anybody know how i can convert it to SRM format to import into my ROMs folder in Retropie?

*Edit - oh, hang on. That .gme format was for Dexdrive PS1 games. I've came across a .mcr save file on another page that i think i can rename to .srm and import. Cheers!

I bought the game used about 2 - 3 years ago with birthday money. Cost me about $30 for the set. I only ever got to just after escaping from the shinra building. I lost interest shortly after and haven't picked it up since.

@lilbud That's when it starts getting good! You should get back to it at some point. I spent so many hours playing this game as a kid! It was absolutely outstanding for its time

@crickentine I'll probably get back to it again at some point, have too many other games that met a similar fate (played for a while, lost interest, stopped playing)

Besides, it's been so long since I played I'd probably have to start over because I'd be lost.

@crickentine I share your enthusiasm about FFVII but I'd disagree with the game getting good after Midgar. The game is already brilliant during Midgar so if it doesn't take hold of you then, it probably never will.
The only thing that does get better is the combat (more varied and difficult).
