@dsquared said in Can’t Save|Load Games Without Going Through Retroarch Menu:

Do you have any ideas where hotkey pairings are created (such as Select + X = retroarch menu which is working)?

      Usually they are in autoconfig/<controller>.cfg i.e. Microsoft X-Box 360 pad.cfg.

Same question - where is game data folder situated now?
According this manual https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Optimization-for-Nintendo-64/ the folder must be /home/pi/.local/share/mupen64plus/ but share folder is empty and game saves are located in roms folder....
So, where need to put hires_texture to apply it now?

      @simongeoghegan
As long as you take a backup of the .srm you needn't worry about anything.
The network share is the easiest and it only shares user data folders for retropie like: roms bios and configs.

The folder will be displayed like a windows directory in explorer, the local network doesn't need any configuration, it could be either through a router or directly connected through the ethernet.

@crickentine I share your enthusiasm about FFVII but I'd disagree with the game getting good after Midgar. The game is already brilliant during Midgar so if it doesn't take hold of you then, it probably never will.
The only thing that does get better is the combat (more varied and difficult).

Maybe your changes messed up your retroarch.cfg files. It might help if you give us your configuration for savestate_directory.

Can you run this and give us the output:
      cd /opt/retropie/configs
      grep -r 'savestate_directory' ./

Ok according to a post I've found, apparently I need to put both in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg and /opt/retropie/configs/snes/retroarch.cfg

but I still have the problem. Do I really need to add it inside each retroarch.cfg emulator ?

Well, after a little more googling, turns out it is the game. If anyone is getting this message playing Suikoden, so far the only fix is save->delete the memory card->repeat. There is no loading from the memory card.

Still looking for another fix, but so far, doesn't look like there is one.

The .mcr file should work. PBP is the format for the image of the PS1 game, not the save game. After launching the emulator you will have pull up the retroarch menu to point the memory card location to wherever your .mcr or .gme files are and it should work. I think it also helps if you are using a BIOS file for the PS1. I know it works but it's not the easiest thing to do.

Is there a way to save my progress (state save) on SNES games?

      Thanks.

Uhhh yeah? But you need to send me 6000USD before you can unlock saving that feature, an another 6000USD for the loading feature. lol just kidding.

This question has been posted multiple times now. If you used the forum search function you could already have figured it out. Here is a topic I posted how to do this:
