@moonston333 This is all experimental if you need video as guide then stay away from doing those things. My advice... because it's possible you need to edit some files and do some manual changes. You can try the ready setted binaries from 6xxx Branch - follow instructions and you need a keyboard for first setup.

@darknior Here is a video TMNT-SS on a RPI3 not overclocked. It runs smooth with standard settings.

It's incredible ... i remove all my Overclock settings and it change nothing, this game is slow for me :(
I can only play fine de demo level in town. If there is more than 2 enemies on screen the game slowdown.
I don't have this problem with any other game. Only this one ! -
@darknior So you say the video I posted can be considered as good gameplay? The video say it is 5853 alpha version. Maybe you have annother mod version in use?

I must really found today the time to put my little list online to show what i want to release, because OpenBOR is complicated, we must be very precise in the referencing of our games.
I have adopt the naming convention from the OpenBOR Collection, and add a CRC32 check to be sure to speak about the same game version PAK. -
Updated List. Added Bad Ass Babes Episode one [Ver. 2.3.1].pak as working.
Also was trying to get golden axe Myth working and realized it was a.spk
file. Seems OpenBOR build 3711 was the last to support.spk

which I was hoping may work as well. I was trying to load OpenBOR-3400 to stock mod selection screen to see if it will load a.spk
but I only get a black screen when trying to get to OpenBOR selection.I have deleted and reinstalled both versions so many times testing out @cyperghost 's scripts and compiles that I only had the 6xxx version right now. I d/l the 3400, copied it to
/opt/retropie/ports/openbor
and ran a script containingcd /opt/retropie/ports/openbor; ./OpenBOR_3400_pak
. I though that would be the most direct way to load it, but I get just a black screen I cannot exit from. (properties are set correctly)What is the best way to load the build directly?

@bizzar721 The best way is to edit emulator.cfg with
nano /opt/retropie/configs/ports/openbor/emulator.cfg
Do something like this:
ob_3400 = "pushd /opt/retropie/ports/openbor; /opt/retropie/ports/openbor/OpenBOR %ROM%; popd" ob_6xxx = "pushd /home/pi/openbor_openbeta; /home/pi/openbor_openbeta/OpenBOR %ROM%; popd" default = "ob_6xxx"
Just change the pathes like you need them.
Then you load a mod and can switch the OpenBOR version via runcommand menu. You know .... grey box and hit the "ANY"-key ;)
Command explain:
pushd, sets the directory in path as current working dir.
popd, unsets directory setted with pushd and so you return to dir you called commandAbout the 3400 version, this needs dependencies based on SDL1-framework. The best way would be to install openbor usually from RetroPie, let compile the old version.... and then just exchange OpenBOR binary ;)

@cyperghost emulator.cfg I understand. Thats exactly how I have been using it before I wiped it all to test the scripts. I plan on wiping OpenBOR again as more testing is needed, so I just wanted to open the 3400 build as direct as possible - without even loading a
.pak
. Simillar to executingOpenBOR.exe
from a dos command prompt. I don't mind opening it directly through terminal as an executable. I just want to do some quick testing. -
@bizzar721 PAK file without sending filename to binary will load if there is just one PAK-file in folder. But there is likely no difference in using CLI via ES or the graphical menu OpenBOR offers itself. I modified code so I know what is happening ;)

This game seem to be fantastic but nobody can play it on new OpenBOR engine from many years because they protect it :(
A very bad idea, to protect they're sprite if i understand fine ...
And nobody never crack it to make a free version for every one :(

@cyperghost I know when you first released pak support, if I loaded a script that pointed to a
.bor
instead of.pak
it would automatically open the OpenBOR menu selection (I still use individual scripts pointed to a game). It's not that much of a big deal. It works fine loading directly. I only wanted to load the menu selection to see if it listedgolden axe myth.spk
, and if it played. From what I've found,.spk
was supported until OpenBOR build 3711, and we have 3400, so there was a chance it would play. I am able to play it on PC using[v.3.0 Build 3342]
which was included with the mod. Golden Axe myth is the fan created prequel to Golden Axe.Bare Knuckle VI [v.3.0 Build 3679][China] is also a
.spk
and plays well on PC. No need to waste any more time on this. I expected it to be a quick and simple thing. Just glad there's not many games in.spk
format! -

If i understand fine when i search to play this game some years ago, they don't distribute the source code of the protection!
To prevent any one break the protection ... we can't have this source code, 3342 with SPK support, and we can never play it on PI.
The only solution was the original author give his game in PAK format :(
Or you found a very strong hacker that have time to lost to crack this protection system :( I'm sure it is not complicated, maybe only an archive (PAK is like a RAR or a ZIP file) with a password ... but i don't know how to crack it myself :( -
I have more new mods added to my list. All for newest version of OpenBOR. Some pretty good ones in there. I tried to find the most recent versions available.

mod.
The one I downloaded was from a site in chinese. There were 3 versions available - I downloaded the one calledFinal Fight Battletoads
.
It was packaged with a data folder and empty bor.pak. I created a pack of the data folder. I recieved 2 errors when packing files:
data\bgs\sew\bez?na~1
data\chars\misc2\blood\??bl~1
I removed invalid characters from the files, and was able to create the
.pak
. Did a mass search using Notepad ++ for anything related to those files & directories. I couldn't find any files linking to those 2 files.
When I tried the game, I actually got the loading screen, then it crashed! Below is the error in log:Loaded 'Boxer' from data/chars/Boxer/Boxer.txt sound_load_sample can't load sample from file 'data/sounds/die2.wav'! sound_load_sample can't load sample from file 'data/sounds/hpain.wav'! sound_load_sample can't load sample from file 'data/sounds/hpain.wav'! sound_load_sample can't load sample from file 'data/sounds/wubba.wav'! sound_load_sample can't load sample from file 'data/sounds/hp.wav'! sound_load_sample can't load sample from file 'data/sounds/hpain.wav'! sound_load_sample can't load sample from file 'data/sounds/hpain.wav'! sound_load_sample can't load sample from file 'data/sounds/hpain.wav'! sound_load_sample can't load sample from file 'data/sounds/wbbawbba.wav'! I wasn't able to make any more progress. I was just going to leave it as not working but figured I might as well post my findings for anyone else who has the desire to get this mod working. Who knows, it may be as simple as changing a line.

On my list i add many info and one really important if we want speak about the same game versions : THE CRC !
And i name them with a long name with game version, and OpenBOR version.
It's easy to find the OpenBOR game version when it comme with OpenBOR EXE, in the LOG file there is the build date, and with it on Chronocrash you have the build number.Some games title are red because there are crappy games, or double games and i don't take them for my collection.
I began to work on MEDIA of this best of collection first set, and it's very long ... nothing existing ... i must create all by myself :pExemple :
All the TEXT informations, and LOGO and SCREENSHOT and TITLESHOT and VIDEO preview :p
Like you i try to make working some rare games, and hard to find ...

I have been renaming all newer mods with full name/version as well the best I could. I have not been checking what version of OpenBOR is being used.All mods listed in my original list I pulled from my HyperSpin hard drive. The naming of those packs is all I have to go on. I remember painstakingly going through and manually renaming the `.paks' the name of the folder they were in. Many didn't have a version number. I can at least see if the CRC matches what you have.

Maybe repacked mods will not change CRC, but only if you don't modify any fine.
If you edit a file to add a character the CRC is different, and it's cool because it is not the same game ;)
On TMNT Red Sky for me the problem was they change a 16/9 game in 4/3 ... so bad :(I have been renaming all newer mods with full name/version as well the best I could. I have not been checking what version of OpenBOR is being used.
