Goodbye fbalpha, welcome fbneo

@sirhenrythe5th I got a romset dated from april 14th and it still won't load. I even threw in every version of
ddpdoj*.zip
. It might not have the updated set or it requires a parent rom that's not named that. -
@Darksavior did the same thing yesterday, tried dozens of parents and clones, even those for MAME0.216 :D
Of course non was working :/ -
@sirhenrythe5th Here we go. I ran retroarch on my pc to get a log file. It now requires a new parent called
ddp3.zip
. I use the black label rom and now it loads fine. -
@Darksavior just to clarify: i have to look for a "ddp3.zip" parent with 30+MB, right?
I had some of those "ddp3.zip" files yesterday, but they were clones with about 755kB :)
Thank you for these hints @Darksavior, much appreciated! -
@sirhenrythe5th Yes,
ddp3.zip
~17.78MB is the parent. It 's in the romset dated 4-14. I useddpdojblk.zip
~1.48MB with the parent rom to run the black label version. -
@Darksavior got them, great help - thank you so much @Darksavior!

Thought fbneo deserves its own logo for EmulationStation:
Created a new fba system vector logo based on the image shown in the (official ?) fbneo's twitter.

@barbudreadmon Just wanted to follow up here on the spinner centering issue. I tried rewiring the opti-pac in several configurations and ultimately reverted back to the original.
Then, I swapped out the 3B+ w/ the 4 after the official release. Noticed the spinner was no longer working, but also that the mouse indexes switched from 0/2 to 1/3. Booted up powerdrift and lo-and-behold, it's no longer centering.
No clue what fixed it (4.6, 0->1 mouse index, or what). I copied the configs from the 3B+ over to the 4, but I may have wiped the fbneo config later.
Anyhoo... just wanted to let you know it's working. Thanks again for your help!

FinalBurn Neo (ClrMame Pro XML, Arcade only).dat lists
<game name="froggrs" cloneof="frogger" romof="frogger"> <description>Frogger (Scramble hardware)</description> <year>1981</year> <manufacturer>Coin Music</manufacturer>
but Mame list is as a bootleg
froggrs Frogger (Coin Music, bootleg on Scramble hardware) Frogger (Coin Music, bootleg on Scramble hardware) Manufacturer: bootleg (Coin Music)
-
@Rion hmmm yes, it's a bootleg by "Coin Music", not sure what's your point here ?

Sorry for being so vague.
I'm filtering my roms into folders based on Category and Bootlegs and so on.
FB neo 0.2.97.44 Built from source 06.21 Windows Gui reports
"froggrs (Clone of frogger)" when it should be listed as "froggrs (bootleg on Scramble hardware)"But maybe you are only working on the libretro core and have nothing to do with the windows gui?
Edit: I should probably report this here instead.
-
@Rion i generally don't handle windows gui stuff indeed, and yeah it's always better to report issues on github, however i'm not too sure what could be the issue here, the name is properly set to "Frogger (Scramble hardware)" (as you saw in the dat file), and i believe that's the name that should appear in the windows gui list too ?
-
@barbudreadmon Yes that's correct.
The name is listed as "Frogger (Scramble hardware)" but is not listed when using bootlegs filter. But clearly it is a bootleg as Mame states.Oh well issue reported and the right github page :)

works as expected on mame2003+.Some Konami games require you to enter the service mode save and exit and then reboot the game, that might not be the issue here but from memory i do mind
you'd get that bad rom message with Run and Gun until you did the above which then creates an eeprom save file and the game would boot up as expected after that. -
@johnodon i can't reproduce this issue here, are you using a recent version of FBNeo ?

There were a bunch of changes that could affect that game over the last few days (added 6p version support and prevented a few crashs that would happen when pressing some buttons combination), maybe try updating to the latest version of fbneo ? You could also try deleting the eeprom (it might have been corrupted ?) named
xmen2pu.nv
, it should be in the fbneo subfolder of your roms directory. -

For those who want to use standalone FBNeo cheat files with the libretro port (i know people have been complaining a lot about the "retroarch way" to add cheats), it's now possible : https://github.com/libretro/FBNeo/tree/master/src/burner/libretro#how-do-i-use-cheat-code-
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
